The Infidel is [OUT]

Going into the hospital today for surgery.  Surprisingly, I will probably be back home as soon as Wednesday (I'm told that very short hospital stays even for major operations are the norm these days), followed by three to six weeks recuperation at home.  During that time I'll be on narcotic painkillers and the Devil knows what else, so I don't know whether I'll be up to much coherent posting, at least early on.  But I'll be here.

Sometimes incoherent posting can be just as satisfying...

Get better...

Best wishes. It's great that you could be back home tomorrow, Wednesday. Hospitals are nice to have but good to leave.

"Going into the hospital today for surgery" -- Good luck and I hope your recovery is complete, swift, and uneventful.

"I'm told that very short hospital stays even for major operations are the norm these days" -- that was true in my case. I had hernia repair surgery in 2012 that was an outpatient procedure. I was in early in the morning and home by the afternoon. I followed that with my prostate being removed for cancer in 2013. I was in before sunrise, had the surgery, stayed overnight and went home the next afternoon. I then recuperated at home for two weeks before heading back to work. Not a fun way to spend my vacation.

If you are on Warfarin or Coumadin be careful when they change the dosage to ramp you back up because there is a significant probability that the ramp up dosage will not be correctly tapered off until after going well above the 2.0 to 3.0 desired range.
Good luck?

What a great opportunity. You can say whatever you want and just blame it on the drugs.

Get well soon, Infidel.

Good you're getting fixed up Infidel! ... the most loved part of surgery for me is the nurses and the dope ... I like the medical fetish thing (little humour)

I was recently hospitalized. It is not nice. I'm going to the dentist this afternoon. That is not nice either. But then not everything necessary is is it? It is good your stay is likely short (as was mine).

I wish it all goes ticketty-boo and you make a full and speedy recovery.

I wouldn't worry too much about the effects of the pain-killers. There is nothing they could give you to make you talk less sense than Mr Trump.

Best of luck and wishing you well ASAP.

Nick.
