A few words on being human

Human beings are members of one body;
At the time of creation they were of one essence.
If a member of the body is in pain one day,
The other members do not remain unmoved.
You who feel nothing at the suffering of others
Do not deserve to be called human.

Sa'di Shirazi
Persian poet, 13th century
