Horses are stupid.
What were you doing?
Next time, just use a real ladder.
"Whale? What whale?"

I'm not sure this is how you actually play golf.
Observe National Library Week.
Dogs do not understand mirrors, apparently.
Sisyphus was actually a pretty cool guy.

Don't use Amazon drone delivery for anything fragile.
Even if you get rid of CoPilot, Adobe Acrobat will re-install it on your computer without your consent. Microslop is getting really desperate to force this crap on people.
Gmail's "AI", similarly, is a huge irritant you can't permanently get rid of.
Inability to read well makes a person easy prey.
Don't work too hard at your job. You'll exhaust yourself and gain nothing of value.
Some hospitals are now using remote monitoring instead of on-site doctors, even in the ICU.

At the beginning of June, Israel will host a huge four-day gay pride festival at the Dead Sea, near the claimed site of Sodom and Gomorrah. Just try that in any Islamic country. Predictably, not everyone is happy with the plan.
Using "AI" to order coffee results in an utter fiasco. Then there's this.
"The woman dies."
The ruling class has its ways of winning an argument (Mazdak was a real person -- I posted about him here).

If you're not sure how to classify yourself politically, try out this political spectrum quiz. Here's the result it gave me:
A recent survey suggested that young men in the US are becoming more religious, but there are good reasons to doubt the truth of this.
Trump is obsessed with punishing the Indiana state legislators who stood up to him and prevented the super-gerrymandering of their state, but it's not going very well.
There's still some hope of stopping the similar super-gerrymander in Virginia.
The forces of evil always seek to silence the victims.
A male inmate in a Maine women's prison assaulted and harassed female inmates over a long period of time. Now one woman is suing.
The next Democratic presidential candidate should run on a platform of standing with fellow democracies and firmly against the Chinese and Russian gangster-regimes.
These are the acts of deeply religious people.
The government is beginning to issue refunds for Trump's tariffs which the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional.
No, the US public's rapidly-growing rejection of trans ideology is not due to people becoming more conservative.
A group of just eleven data centers will produce more greenhouse gases than the entire country of Morocco. Data centers as a whole are a colossal contributor to global warming.
Hasan Piker is the Tucker Carlson of the left, but probably even more dangerous.
According to this report, Trump was largely left out of the loop during the rescue of the downed American airmen in Iran, due to fear that his erratic behavior would likely disrupt the operation. However, Trump is also the main obstacle to a ground invasion of Iran which would probably fail disastrously; he has consistently rejected such plans when the military presents them.
Anti-Semitism is the racism of choice for the educated.
In response to overwhelming public demand, a California city has permanently banned data centers.
A Senate candidate praised a deadly Hamas raid into Israel. This is the same guy who has a Nazi tattoo and once posted a tweet in support of a neo-Nazi.
Trans people have been sold a mirage.
During World War II, these three Dutch women used an unusual strategy to resist the Nazis.
The disruption of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz is pushing most countries to speed up their move away from fossil fuels (the article claims that there is "sharp disagreement among nations", but the US is the only actual example it cites of a country still "bullish on fossil fuels").
They're globalizing again.
The immigrant man who ("allegedly") attacked and sexually taunted three young girls in Scotland last year has finally gone on trial. One of the girls brandished an ax and knife in self-defense, an image which has become iconic to the resistance in the UK. Discussion here.
And the British government hasn't learned anything.
MrMenno has a new song out, commemorating the anniversary of the British Supreme Court ruling on women's rights.
Germany and Italy have quashed a move to suspend European Union cooperation with Israel.
France is deploying fighter planes armed with nuclear weapons to Poland for military exercises simulating war with Russia. France is rapidly expanding its role in the defense of eastern Europe, replacing the unreliable US.
Romania has suffered a series of measles outbreaks due to falling vaccination rates. That one country now accounts for 87% of the whole EU's measles cases.
While anti-Semitism is on the rise and increasingly fashionable in the West, Ukraine is taking a stand against it.
Russian anti-Putin dissident Garry Kasparov has little patience with Westerners' complaints.
Russia is apparently destroying the graves of the Ukrainians it killed in Mariupol.
The fire at this Russian oil refinery is so bad that the nearby town of Tuapse is getting covered with oil residue (two videos at that link).
See Ukrainians destroy a Russian base. Even on a motorbike, you can't outrun drones. These guys tried to hide in an ammunition depot.
This is life in Russia, far from the war zone.
Something is rotten in the state of Kyrgyzstan.
Israel should not be assigning women to do this job.
Israel's ultra-religious population is growing faster than its secular population, leading some of its best minds to emigrate and raising questions about its long-term ability to maintain a modern society.
The Iranian theocracy is desecrating the graves of protesters it murdered in January.
In a win for free speech in India, the country's Supreme Court has halted legal proceedings against a Catholic priest for preaching Christianity.
Democratic Taiwan, Ukraine, and Europe are cooperating closely in drone warfare to deter and defeat threats from Russia and China.
The Iran campaign has exposed China's weakness and sent the Beijing regime a clear warning of what we can do if it misbehaves toward Taiwan.

Depressing about the rise of antisemitism and misogyny on the left. Guess it all is a horseshoe 😢
Extremists of whatever stripe are generally a bad lot -- and have a lot in common, regardless of what cause they're extremists for.
Thanks for the shout-outs. Bill Maher had good points.
PS: thank you for the link! I suddenly have a lot of traffic again 🙂
Ran right into the whale, wow.
Abominations of the sea is right. lol
It's interesting to read what is growing around Chernobyl.
No one should be filming themselves in a public restroom.
Ricko: Thanks for the posts. Maher doesn't pull punches, and often says things other's won't. He's very valuable.
Paula: Glad if I can help.....
Mary: If it's not whales, it's abominations -- we should just stay away from the sea.
One of these days, somebody's husband or boyfriend is going to grab one of these weirdos doing that kind of shit in the ladies' room and stomp the crap out of him. I'd contribute to their legal defense fund. It needs to end.
Wow! Good collection of links this morning, and thanks for the shout-out.
- Love the "Flying Pig" paper airplane.
- Gibsons Steps are remarkable; reminds me of the Maine coastline.
- Yes! I am also looking forward to "Coyote vs ACME"! Talk about a childhood throwback!
- I will be glad when this... obsession... with "Looksmaxxing" goes away. These are just people screaming for attention; sort of like that short-lived "reality show" - "My Secret Obsession". But hey; it gets clicks and likes...
- Yes, thank you Trump for causing the EV, solar and wind industries to take off! We see the reports coming out of the EU where EV sales are through the roof with people just tired of being at the whim of the petroleum industry. Along with EV sales, solar and wind farms are surging forward, as well. But let's continue to subsidize the global industry with billions in taxpayer dollars.
- That was an interesting quiz to see where I fit on the political spectrum. I came out as left / centrist. I could see that. Will post the quiz on my blog in a bit.
Rade
Rade: Thanks. I don't really go to theaters any more -- too many ads before the movie -- but I'm sure I'll see the Wile E Coyote movie at some point.
The "looksmaxxing" thing baffles me. Actually injuring yourself for the sake of a minor improvement in appearance? And it's just as likely to go wrong and make you look a lot worse. It's like with plastic surgery. I could understand it if a person was actually badly disfigured, but a lot of the time it's people who already look normal or better trying to make some marginal improvement.
If we had been going all-out to transition away from fossil fuels over the last couple of decades, we'd be a lot less vulnerable to things like the Strait of Hormuz being closed, and would have a lot more freedom of action militarily. You'd think the conservatives would want that.
The quiz mostly gave me a sense that you can't really classify people very well based on a simple model. I'm sure there are people who would also fall into the "left libertarian" quadrant that I'd actually have little in common with.
Thank you for the blog link for autism awareness month! Speaking of that post, Middle Child received a free t-shirt and duffel bag as a library employee last week. It was unexpected and delightful to her.
I am so tired of turning off all this AI crap, only to have its ugly head resurface thanks to updates and the like. Sorry you are dealing with that in your professional life! UGH!
Thanks for the post! I often don't know about these special days/months/etc unless another blogger mentions them.
I should probably mention that the posts I link to on the Infidel753 Tumblr account are not actually written by me. Unlike Blogspot or Wordpress, Tumblr is geared to "reblogging" or just copying and reposting things written by others, with or without one's own commentary. A lot of Tumblr blogs can't be viewed by people who don't have a Tumblr login, making them useless for the link round-ups since most of my readers presumably don't have that. So I set up a Tumblr blog to "reblog" such items so people can see them when I link to them. I'm actually retired and no longer have a "professional life", thank goodness.
I found that “Flying Pig” delightful. Lots of troubling reports here, but always good to read positive stories about Ukraine. And the information about Middle Child was valuable, as there is so much misunderstanding about autism.
Thanks for linking to my posts. Readers here appear very interested in neurodegenerative diseases.
Thanks for the posts! I think my readership includes a fair number of older people, so there may be a lot of interest in aging-related issues.
The course of the Ukraine war seems to be shifting recently, due to Ukraine's growing superiority in drone warfare and Russia's exhaustion due to the horrendous casualties they've suffered. I hope it shifts all the way soon. It's gone on for way too long.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning: anything supporting transgender ideology, or negative toward Brexit, or in favor of a military draft or compulsory national service, will be deleted. I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent.
No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.
Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
