Truths and inspirations for 13 April 2026
First, congratulations to the voters of Hungary for removing the authoritarian, pro-Putin Viktor Orbán in a landslide in a record high-turnout election. It's a win for Ukraine and -- contrary to what a lot of the bad guys hope -- not a loss for Israel.

A school in Iran. The big writing in the middle of the chalkboard says Jomhuri-e Eslāmi, meaning "Islamic Republic", apparently the object of all the middle fingers. The smaller writing above is the resistance slogan zan zendegi āzādi, "woman life freedom".
Don't forget sewer workers and garbage collectors. Just imagine what life would be like if their work wasn't being done.

Good collection this morning, Infidel!
Great stuff! The defeat of Orban is definitely a good thing for the world!
I detected a theme. I hope the regime falls soon.
Some of these really make you think.
I miss George Carlin. He was funny.
Thank you for these, I always like seeing what you'll post.
Rade: Thanks!
Paula: Indeed. It's great that he was so resoundingly defeated.
Ricko: It's been much on my mind since the uprising in January. I hope the Iranians will finally be liberated from this 47-year nightmare, by whatever means prove necessary.
Mary: I always hope to make people think (not just agree or disagree). Carlin was an iconoclast who said a lot of things that needed to be said.
I busted out laughing at the Trump/Jaba the Hut one.
I've always thought there was a certain resemblance.....
You are truly an individualist and do not fit into any mold! I agree with you on a lot, though I do have a faith that I believe in. That doesn't mean I don't respect your right to not have one (or criticize major religions).
Distancing ourselves from negative people has become a favorite hobby for me and my husband!
Bijoux: Thanks -- your first sentence is one of the highest compliments I can imagine! Of course I respect everyone's right to hold what views they see fit -- I've had my own issues with people who don't respect my own right to that.
Life is too short to spend it on negative people.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning: anything supporting transgender ideology, or negative toward Brexit, or in favor of a military draft or compulsory national service, will be deleted. I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent.
No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.
Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
