Video of the day -- the ancient evil
As the Holocaust passes out of living memory, the ancient evil of Jew-hatred is re-emerging -- in somewhat new forms, but still easily recognizable -- among the worst vermin of the left and right. Indeed, there is no meaningful difference between the anti-Semitic left and right. They are the same.
All of the bad things Trump has ever done, all put together, are insignificant compared to this monstrous evil of reviving anti-Semitism. Yet very few on the right, and almost no one on the left, condemns it or even acknowledges it. Our culture is becoming profoundly corrupt and sick. One can only be grateful for the few like Bill Maher who do call it to account.

Excellent post. When I was a post-grad I had a Jewish-American girlfriend. This was in the '90s and she experienced anti-semitism from "pro-Palestinians" despite having no connections to Israel at all and not even being a practising Jew. I was shocked at how blatent it was and also just how OLD it was. It just never goes away does it? Ever.
NickM, England.
It's the oldest hatred in history, isn't it? The crazy part to me is the significant numbers of Jews in Hollywood. And they are silent?
My maiden name could be mistaken as a Jewish last name (we are German). My parents sometimes felt discriminated against because of it.
It just never ends.
The UK media tends to see anti-semitic attacks as isolated incidents rather than something that's deeply embedded in our culture. Ditto most politicians. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the old line about bad apples.
I greatly applaud anyone, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum, if they have to courage to stand up and denounce the evil of anti-Semitism. I am greatly concerned how quickly this hatred has spread yet again. It is ignorant, shameful, and flat out evil what has been said and done to Jewish people simply because of of the fact that they are Jews.
NickM: Thanks. No, it never goes away and it seems to be roaring back now. The "Palestinian" thing is a convenient excuse, despite jihadism having committed atrocities Israel would never dream of. All we can do is keep speaking out.
Bijoux: I suspect Jewish people in Hollywood learned over time not to speak out -- there has long been discrimination even there, and the nutballs already believe Hollywood is part of the Giant Evil Jewish Conspiracy. Still, of course, some have spoken out.
Ricko: I hope someday it will, but it will take a lot of work.
Nick: The mainstream media these days are usually a disgrace. Calling out the Jew-haters would step on too many powerful toes. The New York Times used to be considered a great newspaper, but its recent scurrilous attack on Israel has completed its downfall.
Darrell: Obviously I agree. This issue is too important to let the left-vs-right thing interfere with the fight against it. Anti-Semitism is equally pervasive and pretty much identical on both "sides", and the fight against it must be as well.
