Video of the day -- batshit crazy
I've already explained why we shouldn't use terms like "Chinese virus" or "Wuhan virus". But aside from that issue, Maher makes some points here that are worth listening to with an open mind. And yes, there will be a "next one", and it may well be even worse.

He speaks his mind with 100% truth. Americans have always been more or less crazy and telling someone that something is bad for them is not going to stop them from doing it. Chinese and for that matter everyone on the planet ate the same way. Unless the Chinese government steps up and closes down these wet markets, we can expect another outbreak of another disease coming our way. Who knows, it could just wipe out every human on the planet next time it happens. If you think it's a crazy thought then just think about it. Almost every disease that has come from China has gotten considerably worse in symptoms and death toll.
"Viruses come from China like shortstops come from the Dominican Republic."
HAhahahahaha! Now that's funny!
He's got a point. The close interaction of the Chinese population with live creatures under less than hygienic conditions seems to breed this kind of thing. Gross.
Leanna: It's odd that the regime hasn't acted after how much covid-19 cost China. You'd think they'd have learned how dangerous those wet markets are.
Mike: And yet at least one humorless doofus (whom I will not identify) singled out that very line as being "racist".
Lady M: Unfortunately, what goes on in factory farms and meat-processing plants in this country is pretty scary as well.
Maher is spot on..and the wet markets are a breeding ground for germs. And the virus did come from China and Wuhan.
But trump turns just an identifying statement or origin into a racist remark because that is his intention. And the fools who are his base, pick up on it and, as we have seen, turn it into actually physical attacks, that we have seen on the news. Just a few to be sure, because most of us have some good sense. It’s whose mouth it has come from that makes the difference.
Yes, I'm well aware of Trump's petty-minded malevolence on this and so many other things (as is Maher). As with so many other things, he muddies the waters and makes it more difficult to confront the issues honestly.
