The world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, illuminated as a gesture of solidarity with the Manchester victims. Update: More tributes here.

I think that is taking the piss somewhat. The Gulf Arab States and (esp. Shoddy Absurdia) where the plutocrats live lives of unbelievable decadence that would make Caligula pale in embarrassment can go sod off. They are not our pals. They pretend to be so they get access to our goodies and we acquiesce due to the oil* but they are nasty pieces of work (try being an Indonesian maid in the UAE for just one day rather than doing accountancy** in Oregon - just one day then think about it in terms of the fact they are essentially slaves) and they fund terrorism by blinds and dodges which are of course overlooked. They also fund to a massive amount the mosques and schools in the West that promote this evil. This includes quite prominently in Manchester. I know. I live just outside of Manchester and lived in the City for five years. I take sincerely these gestures from many, many places but that to me is Barad Dur lit with the the White Tree of Gondor.
They do this of course maybe to assuage their guilt over their quite un-Islamic lifestyles of grand-an-hour-hookers in London, yachts (well stocked with vintage wines) in Nice etc. etc. And maybe as a tool to keep their (usually kept pig-ignorant) underclass populace het-up against an external enemy so as to not notice they are being taken for a ride.
So yeah, cheers to Germany for The Brandenburg Gate but fuck off to the taqiyya from The Gulf.
*And in the UK there is an afterglow of glamorizing the Arabs due to Lawrence of Arabia and stuff written by the likes of John Buchan. Oh, yes.
**I think you said you were an accountant or similar in Oregon once.
I posted the above comment only because the writer is from the Manchester area. Long-time readers pretty much know what I would have to say in response. I don't much feel like typing it all out at the moment.
