More music worth keeping
A follow-up to this post -- more examples of music more lively, varied, and imaginative than most of what is produced today. They had way better visuals in a lot of the videos back then, too. Again, I put some limitations on what I chose -- no standard love songs (too clichéd) or political stuff (too political). Do use fullscreen. If you also like this kind of thing, we have that much in common.
Not only is this a great song, I love the visual imagery:

New music is beyond awful, it’s so calculated and predictable
Sonic innovation is nonexistent. Nothing sounds or looks original without seeming incredibly contrived.
And humorless! There’s little humanity to it even, just like a new car designs and a lot of other things today. Ice cold and charmless
I keep going back farther and farther, even to the 1920s and 1930s, something worth learning about and enjoying- from far richer cultural eras

This sentiment is common to every generation about th next one or two that follow and has been since - I dunno - George Formby was top of the "Hit Parade".
So I assume you're being somewhat ironic...
Anyway, we have a more pressing concern... #3 on your list is apparently via however you uploaded it not available in the UK. Except it is. I've seen it on Youtube recently. Hmmm!!! I rather like, "The Safety Dance" because it is a remembrance of the time when music videos were kinda new and hadn't established a "language" yet.

But kudos to the Men Without Hats for the sheer verve with which they channel a Summerisle/Hobbiton mash-up aesthetic. And the blonde lass is clearly mental. My hat is off to them!
I love that Peter Gabriel song. I've listened to that song a lot over the years.
I remember Enya being all the rage back in the 90's and I heard her songs on the radio all the time. Her voice is so darn pretty. I love it.
The Pretenders had some great songs, this was one of them.
Heart was so good. Ann Wilson did a song with David Draiman of Disturbed and it was so pretty. Their voices sounded so good together.

Reaganite: I wouldn't say all current music is that bad, but a lot of it is. Of course, there's been boring and formulaic stuff in every era -- what gets remembered is the best stuff. But really good music seems very thin on the ground now compared to even fifteen or twenty years ago.

I assume there are quite a few uploads of "The Safety Dance" on YouTube and elsewhere. Unfortunately, if I can see the video myself, I can't tell if it's not viewable in other countries.

That's how some of the best art gets made -- it's from people who don't know what they're not supposed to do.
Debbie Harry is awesome. Her Darth Vader turns out to be a bit buggy, though.

Enya is really in a class by herself, and will certainly be appearing here again.
I have never heard the original version of Lucretia, only the cover by Alkaline Trio. Thanks for sharing. That whole Peter Gabriel Album "So" is just great. Always been one of my top 100.
Glad to have helped out on Lucretia. I have the impression that song isn't as well known today as the others.
