That was refreshing. I didn't realize Maher was back on the air and interviewing a panel again. I haven't seen his show in months. I'll have to check him out. Thanks for the heads up.
So true. We do need to bring unsexy back. That's what happened with the Cheeto administration: they loved the sound of their own voice and their image too much. Just like IMPOTUS they were a reality tv administration: they did nothing while pretending to work. The Baldies will be well deserved.
Carol: Yes, he was on a break but came back in January.
Sixpence: It's incredible that Trump managed to find so many sleazy clods to fill his administration. And now it's jarring to see what a competent government looks like again.
Mike: Let's hope Biden brings in a lot of Waxman types.
There're are more than a few in government who deserve the Baldy Award. We don't know about them because -- they're Waxman-type representatives, going about doing their jobs without any recognition.
Shaw: I'm sure that's true, and they deserve recognition.
Pinku: Waxman's been an achiever for a long time. I remember reading about his efforts on the early AIDS epidemic, when there was still widespread resistance to real action.
I hope Bill actually follows through on this. I kinda agree with JackieSue, but as most of my close friends are of the "dickish" variety, I can live with it.
For the last while, through the magic of the media and the imprtance of being "telegenic" we have set up a system that gives undue weight to tantrums and grandstanding. It most certainly is not just Trump, there are many other practitioners of this particular dark art.
Here's to the Waxman Award. While I have never voted for him, and a lot of the time I disagree with him, I kinda think that Ron Wyden might be a good candidate for the Baldy.
Greetings from the netherland of Milwaukie. I like your stuff
John: Thanks for commenting. I don't now whether Maher will actually keep giving out "Baldies", but you can usually count on him to remind us of the important of substance over style and theatrics.
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

Thanks for posting this.
I'm proud to say that Henry Waxman was my mom's representative in Congress for at least a decade. That's why I recognized him immediately.
for a dick he says some smart shit.

JackieSue: Dicks can be like that.
