"Every day another woman loses her job and a witch-burning occurs on Twitter." But women aren't supposed to talk about their own issues any more. Nice fresh links collection 👌🏻 Some of these post titles kinda made me giggle, though 😜
Hunt the tail, LOL! And I love the baptism story. Also Trumpanzees on the Titanic.
Okay, I'm going to wade into the "extinction" or "erasure" of lesbians issue. First, let me just state the obvious -- lesbian SEX has not gone anywhere but, if anything, is more prevalent than ever. All that has changed is the terminology, conceptualization and theories around it. Every generation is entitled to draw its own conclusions and make its own analysis of same-sex desire. And that's simply what young people today are doing. Everything now is viewed through their lens of gender deconstruction and rejection of the non-binary. If you take the time to closely analyze this new characterization, however, you will see its connection to how we second-wave feminists viewed gender. Both we AND them wanted to ultimately transcend the limitations of gender so that it would no longer "matter" in how the world worked. In many ways, in my opinion, the new gender analysis is simply "old wine in new bottles."
The second part of my analysis is this -- we old-timey Boomer lesbians had our day in the sun when WE were the radicals and now we must not be judgy old curmudgeons about how Gen Z choose to live their lives. As I said, lesbian sexual BEHAVIOUR is doing just fine, thank you very much, and is in no danger of extinction or erasure.
And while I'm busy antagonizing you, dear Infidel, I'll go that extra step and say it is a profound injustice to Gen Z to dismiss their lives and choices as mere "faddishness." Everyone has the right to live their lives as they see fit and to make choices about their own lives, even if others view those choices as "wrong" or "bad" or "ill-advised." And hey, weren't those judgments and epithets exactly the same ones that the Greatest Generation made about Boomer gays? Let's not turn into our hidebound forebears.
excellent
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Hot: I would hope they gave rise to a few giggles.....
Debra: Well, we'll see – time will tell. Transgenderism in most cases certainly looks to me like a fad, and it does seem like a lot of young people who are actually just gay are re-defining themselves as trans because the concept has such a high profile at the moment. And it has a lot more potential for harm. If a kid decides they're gay when they're too young to really know, and later realizes they aren't, no harm is done. If they decide they're trans and get puberty blockers or surgery, they can seriously mess themselves up. I think in the years to come we'll see a lot of people who are angry that they were allowed to do that kind of damage to themselves when they were too young to make such decisions or define themselves that way.
Biological reality doesn't change from generation to generation. Things that do change so quickly are often, well, just fads. And a reality-based world-view doesn't need to resort to the kind of vicious personal attacks and threats of violence that characterize transgender ideology. That's the kind of thing religions do.
This isn't even a topic I originally took much interest in. I became concerned about it after seeing what women (many of them lesbians) wrote about it, plus the relentless barrage of harassing comments I got after I started including links about it on the blog.
JackieSue: Thanks!
Mary K: Thank you. Thanksgiving isn't a meaningful holiday to me, but it's always nice to have four straight days off work. I hope you're feeling better after your loss.
I do agree that extremist activists on BOTH sides of this issue need to calm down.

The Kraken, along with OANN and that other stupid right-wing mouthpiece are the product of too much IMPOTUS. It's called Lie-betes.
XOXO
The media doesn't get to call the weather. Only reputable government agencies in charge of overseeing the weather get to say what the weather is for the day. So, just because my local news meteorologist says it's raining at the moment, even if it is actually raining, doesn't mean that they are right that it is raining. Is that the logic that some Trumpanzees mean when they complain about various news organizations calling an election?
Can I address the puberty blockers thing from experience?
One of my daughters started showing signs of puberty when she was six. It's "precocious puberty" - look it up - and it's a real thing.
We treated it with puberty blockers. That's standard treatment for that sort of thing. It's been standard treatment for decades.
Stopping the blockers at twelve halted all effects. They are reversible, and don't cause damage. You don't need to be worried about them.
On puberty blockers, see here, here, here, here, and here. That's only a sample of the information that's out there. I've linked to more at various times. As the links point out, "puberty blockers" are sometimes used for treatment of genuine medical problems. In such cases, or in a case of precocious puberty (certainly an abnormal condition which would need treatment), it may be worth the risks. But the risks are substantial.
Closing comments on the post -- I really don't want to keep going back and forth forever about one aspect or another of the trans thing.
