Video of the day -- clichés are not enough
I don't agree with everything he says here, but it's worth listening to. Terms like "freedom" and "greatest country in the world" too often become clichés, accolades to which we lay claim with no thought of what would actually merit them. Perhaps the most important line is toward the end -- "we didn't scare so easily".

The video actually had me laughing pretty good ... I agree with most of it.
I saw this when the series was on cable teevee. Pretty much agree with a lot of it.
One of the best moments from The Newsroom--and it had a lot of them, in my opinion.
I am planning to do a post modeled after that clip, but instead of challenging the notion that we're the greatest country in the world, challenge the oft repeated statements that we're a nation under God and that God blesses America. Now if I could just find the time.
Sadly, no closed captioning :-(
Thanks for the comments. Tommykey, I hope you do do that post.
Donna, it's working for me. Mouse over the lower part of the video. It's the "CC" box to the left of the gearwheel symbol.
That was well worth watching and I agree with much of it.
