This can be overturned, someday, and other bad decisions can be prevented -- but that depends on who appoints and confirms the justices, which in turn depends on us.

And an Andrew Sullivan reader points out that this decision privileges Catholic taboos specifically, not religion in general, making the flouting of the Establishment Clause even worse.

I was disgusted when I heard the news yesterday. What is happening to separation of church and state? What precedent will this set to take other rights away from employees? Why are corporations gaining rights and citizens losing them? How will women cope with the financial burden of out-of-pocket contraception (or pregnancies)?
In the short term, I'm sending a donation to the Planned Parenthood Federation. In the long term, I intend to VOTE. This is unacceptable.
All of those things will inevitably get worse as long as we have Republican religious bigots on the Supreme Court. The ruling will encourage the bad guys to push further.
But don't forget all the victories that have been won over the last few years. This is a defeat, but it just means we have to keep fighting.
