About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

Ah, they finally confirmed it. I was worried that this was yet another rumor flying around.
I won't miss him. Still, I worry for Libya's future.
Yeah you're right, but I'll really click my heels in happiness when Cheney joins him in Hell.
Sorry, I know you're an atheist but I need my weird little fantasies.
Great news. Can't wait to hear the right-wing spin on this.
Seen on Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish:
"A TALE OF TWO PRESIDENTS
Bush and Saddam: One trillion dollars and thousands of US lives lost
Obama and Qaddafi: One billion dollars and zero US lives.
And this time, the Arab world loves us.
To rid the world of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi within six months: If Obama were a Republican, he'd be on Mount Rushmore by now."
Hope the Libyans can't put together a stable, decent government. Would love to see the Roman ruins at Leptis Magna one of these days!
LOL!!!!!
Shaw hit that nail squarely on the head.
Leptis Magna looks well worth seeing.
Thanks everyone -- a death to celebrate indeed.
Are you sure he is dead?? He might be selling camel tacos in Des Moines..... just saying.
Look, matey, I know a dead dictator when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now. Camel tacos? What kind of talk is that? Look, why did he fall flat on his back the moment they got 'im out? This dictator wouldn't "voom" if you put four million volts through 'im! He's bleedin' demised! He's passed on! This dictator is no more! He has ceased to be! He's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! He's a stiff! Bereft of life, he rests in peace! If they hadn't nailed 'im to the perch he'd be pushing up the daisies! His metabolic processes are now 'istory! He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket, he's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! This is an ex-dictator!!
Can't wait to hear the right-wing spin on this.
Leslie, it'll probably be something like this:
"And let's not forget to thank George Bush for invading Iraq and removing Saddam Hussein from power, which made this all possible."
Ugh! Re: my first comment. Obviously I meant "I hope the Libyans CAN put together a stable, decent government"!
FACEPALM!
I think everyone figured that:-)
Although I keep wondering why the media is always referring to Qaddafi as the Libyan "Strongman"? I can't think of a single world despot or dictator referred to as a 'strongman'? How'd he get that title, could he bench press more weight than Bashar al-Assad?
The Colonel kept his country's economy intact and safe from marauding international banks and western debauchery for 40 years. Now, witness the result of what happens when you give the undisciplined masses free reign!
Kiss good-bye to Libyan prosperity, now that the bankers and their minions (NATO) have unfettered access to their financial and economic structure... not to mention the degradation that a liberal western lifestyle will inevitably bring to them, in the form of homosexuality, atheism, corporatism, materialism, etc.
RtS: Well, "strong" can sometimes mean "smelling really bad".....
Ann Onymous: Thanks for illustrating how puritanical religiosity and sympathy for fascism go together.
not to mention the degradation that a liberal western lifestyle will inevitably bring to them, in the form of homosexuality, atheism, corporatism, materialism, etc.
Anonymous, shhhh! That was supposed to be a secret!
