The crusade

"Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter, the nation that keeps faith."

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand."

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."

These and other Bible quotations were printed on the covers of military-intelligence briefings on Iraq sent by Donald Rumsfeld to President Bush and top military leaders. See here, and be sure to click at the bottom for the slideshow of actual cover sheets.

These were official US government documents. It's no wonder Bush thought he was on a crusade (a term he himself used), with Rumsfeld fueling his fantasies with this kind of medieval crap.

They KNEW who they wanted to target with their message. It's ironic that they used a religious/militaristic approach because that's exactly what religious dominated states (our enemies) do.

The message was aimed at people who prefer to use emotion rather than reason to wage wars. It worked. And it's very disappointing too.

Heh,heh,heh... this was ceratinly interesting.I am just relieved that Bush is gone period. It appear's that Rumsfeld knew how to push his button's. I didnt know about Rumsfeld in this manner, but it doesnt suprise me. I actaually been thinking that Cheney has been doing a number on Bush for sometime though... not anything to do with religion...but influencing for monitary and business dealing's. Bush was never too sharp of a businessman actually. If you look at his business history...many of his venture's were failure's. The reason he had any success in business...is because his familia kept bailing him out...period. I voted for him in 2000 based only on one thing. And that is, while he was Governor of Texas, he said nothing, done nothing, and left well enough alone. It worked in Texas..yeah. But what I didnt realize and see.... was that he was going to take this same attitude to Washington... and it wouldnt work there. Then all the sudden...he's in Washington... and he act's like he's on this mission... and every other word out of his mouth is God. I started wondering...wassup with ole Fuzzy(Fuzzy was a nickname I gave him...cause nothing he say's is clear, and he kept saying Gore's math was fuzzy in debates)I mean... sure he was one of them born again whatever in Texas... but he wasnt on a mission to do nothin but mind his business and just look good for the camera..collect a paycheck, and carry on with his business failures and investment's(personal one's ... not Texan's money)Jesus F'n Christ...he get's into Washington...and all of the sudden he's this unusual character... I also think that this whole 9/11 al-Qaeda thing too set him off in the head...and possibly on the religious highway, crusader crap, what have you... their all a bunch of f'n nut's to begin with and they figure Bush was a christian nut...so why not play his string's too? These religious fruitcake's play off of each other is what I am saying. That's why I never debate with them... once they see you feed into it...it fuel's the fire... I simply tell them...I frankly dont care.Beside's ...I'm a goddamn Texan... I dont give damn about some middle-eastern ancient culture(christianity), I dont wear a f'n rag on my head... and pray in a goddamn desert for rain or whatever... and the only thing I worship is a woman! But it appear's that ole Rumsfeld had this guy pegged for a "mark",and Bush probably started thinking, he was being called by the almighty, and that's why he made President...and if he fail's to play with these game's...he will be damned or some crap, hell... I dont know, you know how some of these folk's think when they get too deep into that crap. I'm not against anyone believing in a damn thing, never was. Bringing this crap to the job ... as far I'm concerned...should qualify for a pink slip... period. The one's who established this once great nation would be appauled to see what has become of this country, concerning the seperation of church and state, and downright outraged. And the damn mega religious institution's of today...when not at war...are robbing the people's, and have politician's and investment firm's in their pocket's...this whole damn cesspool need's to be flushed down the f'n toilet! I'll shut up now.

Later Guy..........

It's turning out that Rumsfeld was a BIG part of the Bush problems - check out what they said he did during the Katrina crisis in GQ. It shows just how incompetent and out-of-touch Rumsfeld was during the Bush years. To think that even now, with all the facts coming out, the Republicans still defend these horrible criminals and what they did. It's a national embarrassment of criminality.

Um,um,um ... imagine that ... Mr.Prash dont think this would even happen in India! (not to mention France)

Ms.Vamp has a point to with the religion/military approach thing. I sometime's wonder if religion's know how to do anything but have war's over good and evil? I mean, look at history.

Mr.Boh say's a mouthfull too, ... national embarrassment of criminality. Well, heh, heh, heh, the damage is done, and we sure as hell cant erase it any way you slice it I reckon!

Great, it's the 21st century and we're still killing each other in the name of non-existent gods. Sometimes I really wonder about the future of Humanity.
