Are you having trouble following the rather complex manufactured "controversy" over Planned Parenthood and the video smear campaign against it? Well, our ever-reliable watchdog over the Christian Right, Republic of Gilead, is here to straighten it all out. Start with this introductory post and this overview of the attack campaign, which reveal the fundamental distortion the forced-birth fetishists are pushing -- no, Planned Parenthood is not "selling body parts" as those deceptively-edited videos would have us believe.
Next, read this report on the protests being held outside Planned Parenthood sites across the country, which makes it clear that this is simply another lie-fueled exercise in fundamentalist bullying. Finally, as a palate-cleanser, there's this collection of pictures from the protests, which affirms that pro-choice counter-protesters have been out in force too.
This attack will fail because everyone outside the right-wing alternate-reality bubble knows it's based on a scam -- it's been widely reported that the videos that started it were deliberately edited to distort the truth. This is just another case of fundamentalist agitation driven by lies and hypocrisy, nothing more.

ReplyDeleteThe post header pic says it all. Fundies simply and willfully refuse to understand it.
ReplyDeleteAhab: Thanks for creating them!
ReplyDeleteRN: Reality isn't their strong suit. I hope you took a look at Ahab's work on this -- it's comprehensive and devastating.
When I first seen the videos about selling body parts and dead babies or whatever, while some on MSM news looked shocked and reported with such passion ... I could tell it was a set up, I didnt need media of any kind to tell me what this was about, I know living in Texas especially what the scam behind this is well. The whole pro- life thing is even a scam, if these folks were so concerned with lives, they would be attacking a Hell of alot more that is being done to our children and citizens, so its just a pop- culture type movement cloaked in religions is all. Look at the titles for the pro- life groups they create, or the wayz that they are cloaking it in "protection of womens health", or else, all that tell's you it's a scam straight up, just like a title like Citizens United in politics, or these freedom group names. The thing is, these folks dont even have any safe solutions for the welfare of the child or mother if there are health concerns, some even advocate to let a mother just die over her choice to do what is needed. The big bucks that politically support this dont care, because over- population, poverty, health and social issues means profit's ... so no one in these pro- life circles frankly gives a shit about lives, except maybe the people at the bottom who are brainwashed into believing this nonsense. Womens rights in general have been under attack for decades ... at a time they were looked at as baby producers only, just like in Nazi Germany, to have sex with soldiers to reproduce Aryan babies in a baby factory type setting. People and women are going to resist this oppression and fight back and DO what is necessary regardless of what these cults try to impose. Enough from me though, Thanx for the read and links to the Ahab site. Later Infidel
ReplyDeleteThanks to Infidel753 and Ahab for the links and the information. I don't think PP's opponents will be successful in shutting them down. They're too important as a source for girls' and women's health.
ReplyDeleteRanch: They don't care about "life" after its born and can no longer be used as an implement of social control.
ReplyDeleteShaw: So far PP is fighting back, and most Democratic leaders seem to be standing firm, while the Republicans in Congress are sinking into another fight about shutting down the government. We should win this one.
