Heartbreaking. All anyone cares about is criticizing Trump and Israel. And while no one seems to equate all Americans with Trump, it’s fine to blame every Israeli and any Jew anywhere for Bibi’s actions. Europeans in particular do this. Yes, a generalization, but after watching this video, it seems more true than not. No one cares about the innocent Iranians trapped by the maniacal regime, or the 40k murdered, just like everyone has forgotten about October 7…
Paula: It's a bizarre kind of narcissism, or maybe solipsism. To a lot of Americans, nothing outside the US quite matters or even really exists, except insofar as it can be used for point-scoring in internal US politics.
A lot of the worst anti-Semitic threats and violence in Europe is actually committed by Muslim immigrants and descendants of immigrants, but even among a lot of the indigenous Europeans, the situation is bad. I think that, now that the Holocaust is passing out of living memory, the historical patterns of anti-Semitism are re-emerging there.
Some people not only have forgotten October 7 but are actively trying to minimize it and deny some of the atrocities -- as some people deny the reality of the Holocaust. But others are keeping documentation of the truth alive. I have a link to one such site in my sidebar. Evidence is the best way to fight against lies.

No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.
Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.
