That last one! So true. These posts are always interesting. Images often speak louder than words.
I have actually seen Chinese takeaway menus like that in Manchester. In one case someone had got the idea that the word "fuck" was just a linguistic intensifier (Think, "Scotch bonnet peppers are hot as fuck!"). So, it was used where you'd normal use, "spicy" or similar - "King Prawns with all kinds of fuck", "Cantonese Rib Pig Style Fuck"... It greatly amused my wife because she's a professional translator. She almost put it on her website because a lot of people think, "If you can ask for a cup of coffee in a language, you can translate that language". Almost. Anyway, my wife doesn't translate menus as much as legal documents and drug trial protocols and stuff like that. You can imagine what could go hideously wrong with those... Oddly enough she did cite a bad translation by a big US corporation. When Pepsi launched in the PRC they "translated" their slogan "Pepsi - The Choice of a New Generation" on the cheap. The result in Mandarin Chinese meant almost exactly, "Pepsi - Bring your Ancestors Back to Life".
I've been up Lady Liberty (I don't think you can anymore post 9/11) and actually Her "skeleton" (the structural support) is very interesting.
Some beautiful and some are laugh out loud. A fun post.

I love the mountain pictures, all the green trees and greenery around makes me yearn to go to the mountains.
Martha: Yes, life goes on. I know you've moved on from some toxic stuff lately.
NickM: Anything legal or medical definitely needs expert translation. I'm guessing such translators don't come cheap, though, and restaurant owners decide to just wing it with a dictionary. I'd be positively afraid to order some of those dishes.
Sandee: That's what I aim for -- and most of them need no words.
Leanna: That particular cat was certainly under extreme provocation.
Mary K: The winged skeleton creature is a strange concept. But if he takes tea, I'm cool with him.
I think that duck is a fake duck, one of those decoys hunters use. It must have drifted loose and a real bird saw it as a good nesting place.
Not into mountains myself -- I'd go for the cozy room overlooking the Eiffel Tower -- but they do look nice.
