It's sad that that happened. Hopefully he'll be ok.
Last I heard he's off the ventilator and his eye still has a chance to heal. Why does he still not have security at these events? There's a new crop of nutjobs every year.
It sounds like his life is in no danger now, but recovery will be slow and not complete. He's 75. It won't be an easy way back.
In honor of the attack on Salmon Rushdie I purchased more copies of "Satanic Verses" and will dispersing them around town for people to pick up, read and keep.
