I love the spirit of this. Of course Congress should, and I think will, pass federal voting-rights protection to sweep away the Jim Crow revival being engineered by Republicans across the nation, but the enemy will never stop trying one thing or another, so we all need to stand ready to support those who defy such suppression. Good one...the republicans are astounding in the lengths they will go to, to stop blacks and other minorities from voting..
I hope you're right and Congress does pass federal voting-rights protection. This attempt by the Repugs to bring back Jim Crow is well, repugnant.
So many people willing to get into Good Trouble, though...
XOXO
Defiance is importante in democracy, or you will loose your ass. Even people who don't feel defiant, are naturally going to give out water or whatever to these folks who stand in these lines for hours, legal or not. Strange proposals of laws from a party who just lost and says they're all about American values, freedom, etc ... surprising how unAmerican they are being, that sure won't get much popular vote. A bunch of Republican Senators were here in Texas to examine detainment centers on the border, and here in Dallas (a downtown convention center) where lots of immigrants are being held. Got on camera, talking about how inhumane it is and Biden for "doing it to them" (President Biden didn't do this shit, either), Senator Kennedy of Louisiana was almost in tears the other day ... I almost was in tears just listening to him, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh {:-) Detained immigrants at one place had new clothing, like a store, recreation facilities (foosball, table tennis, basketball, etc) ... why don't they go down to some of these homeless encampments and wallow in tears of the Americans that are homeless, who have no decent clothing, etc (goes to show how full of shit these folks are). Democrats have also been a surprise to me, I voted against Trump only, not expecting much, than just to get Trump out ... but have noticed so many progressive reforms and acts of President Biden, even listening to his first address the other day, that SO MANY ridiculed him, it was full of great ideas and actions he's been taking, this guy seems more progressive and pro-America so far than Presidents I seen over the last 4 decades. Just in the last couple months, the Democratic Party has done more for America than the Republicans have done in the last couple decades ....
Damn, man ... this dude doing the quote, parents named him George Wallace? ... that sure is cold ....
Right on!
I agree with Debra -- Right On!
Muddy Waters - I love that.
If the Georgia law isn't canceled by Congress or repealed (there' corporate pressure now building against it), I hope we see a lot of this. Defy the law and dare the state to prosecute people for giving food or water to voters standing in line.
