About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

"Vader felt like an amateur" -- hahahahahahahaha and so he should.
I really like it when folks get together and share opinions.
Great blog, stick with it!
It took me 40 years to shake the delusions of religion I was brought up with. Now I can scarcely believe I used to swallow this stuff. The best cure for religion is to visit a children's hospital. You see the suffering of these innocents and then tell me about your all-powerful loving God!
I really like the simplicity and punch of the first one! And the irreverence and wit of the last :D
Hello Infidel. A grand set. I love these things that make us think. The one that stood out to me was the atheist pig one about God never seeming to be at a mass shooting. Hugs
I agree with so many of these. I don't care what religion someone is as long as they don't try to stuff their religion down my throat. There's a Baptist minister that comes around every year trying to invite people to his church. I am nice and just say I'm not interested but he's so damn pushy and one time asked me if I wanted to go to hell. I mean, wth dude. I just shut the door in his face, he's not worth my breath.
Debra: Most movie heavies are pretty weak tea compared to religion.
Anon: Oh, I will.
Professor: Good example. They always have some bullshit to explain the suffering of innocents, but it's never convincing except to those desperate to be convinced.
Jenny_o: The first one is blunt about ongoing progress. The last one is just fact. It always annoys me when people claim being non-religious requires faith.
Scottie: Thanks -- God never seems to be around when something happens that he could actually help with.
Some of these images I found on Scotties blog -- he often posts such items.
Mary: Unfortunately trying to shove it on other people is part of the ideology -- they call it "the Great Commission". As for the threat of Hell.....
Oh, the one about marriage! I can't tell you how many people I know believe that Christianity invented it and has a right to define it. There isn't even any point in arguing with anyone whose mind is completely made up and refuses to budge.
Martha: And what if they were right? Anti-gay fundies always talk about "the union of one man and one woman", but based on most of the Bible, it would be "the union of one man and however many women he can afford". But marriage exists in every culture, ancient or modern, including those that never knew about the Bible or anything in it.
Something didn't make sense so I went back and looked . . . I should have said the second-last, not the last.
Ah, heck, I liked 'em all anyway :)
These are very interesting and thought-provoking.A couple made me double think. Inviting someone to join you at your religious service is one thing, but being aggressive and pushy about it is a real turn-off for me.
Jenny_o: Sometimes a simple response is all that's needed.
Dellgirl: Thanks -- glad you found them thought-provoking. And too many people can't double-think. As for "aggressive and pushy", I've been there.....
