Holiday odds and ends

Always liked this one.  Liz Mitchell of Boney M sings Feliz Navidad.

Check out Christmas cartoons at Plowing through Life, I Should be Laughing, and Hackwhackers.

Pine for these Christmas gifts of decades past.

If your holidays have been like this, you're doing it wrong.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas with Broken Peach, who even eschewed their usual corpse make-up for the occasion.

If you hunger for the political even today, Crooks and Liars is accepting nominations for the 2018 Crookie Awards.  Only one person is ineligible to be nominated.

Finally, a reminder of what Christmas is, and isn't, really about.

Boney M's Christmas album is STILL one of the best ones ever made! I've owned it in LP form, in cassette and now in CD.

Oh, those vintage ads! Guns, booze, smokes . . . my sister always called giving cigarettes "Giving Cancer for Christmas."

I LOVE this version of Feliz Navidad. Definitely my favourite.

Those vintage ads...ACK!

Fun holiday odds and ends. Thanks for the mention!

Are you still a believer in Trump? Because at adulthood it's marginal, right?

Happy Christmas! War is over if you want it.

Rational: Thanks -- although to be frank there are people to whom i don't wish a happy anything.

Debra: Boney M did a lot of good stuff. And your sister was definitely right about the cigarettes.

Martha: It's a great version. As for the ads, well, the past is another country, and we don't do things that way any more -- thank goodness.

Dave: Unfortunately there's too much empirical evidence for his existence.

Not sure what war you're referring to?

Riffing on Trump's "still believe in Santa" phone chat with a seven-year-old , and "Happy X-Mas: War Is Over" by John Lennon.

When I initially commented I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments
are added- checkbox and now whenever a comment is added I get 4 emails with
the same comment. Is there an easy method you can remove me from that service?
Thanks a lot!

Dave: OK. I knew of those things, just wondered if you had something else in mind.

Anon: Not that I know of, unfortunately. The e-mails should have an "unsubscribe" link in them, though.

I know this is OT but Infidel is an Oregonian and he ought to be proud of his state for this...

And I thought I was a hero for getting some milk from the corner shop!

And at this Christmas time that is one Hell of a feat!

Mr. O'Brady is certainly an atypical Portlander. This place pretty much shuts down when we get any ice at all.

In fairness, of course, in Antarctica Christmastime is mid-summer. Still not particularly warm, though.

Thanks for linking to my Christmas entry about Broken Peach. I tweeted a link to Broken Peach and they responded "Oh! Thank U! kisses!" I couldn't (and shouldn't) ask for more.
