They found Cthulhu's crib!

Here's the word for "ice" in every European language, illustrating some of the relationships among them.

Please cornobble this person.

Ink low, replace cartridge.

Behold -- the wall!

This winter solstice, may reason prevail.

Dare you sip even the most innocuous beverage from these eldritch flasks? (found via Mendip)

Only in Oregon.

Pretty amazing what hormones can do.

Here's the real story on Trump and Sam the eagle.

Sheru Munshi Khan got on the wrong train -- and didn't find his way home until 25 years later.

30% of Republicans are so warlike they want to bomb a country that doesn't even exist.

One wonders if the sentiment is reciprocated.

The Christian "virgin birth" myth arose from, and reinforces, utterly sick attitudes about female sexuality (found via Republic of Gilead).

Britain has finally closed its last coal mine, but the miners didn't get much out of it.

Moderate Republicans exist, and they are reachable.

Human-rights experts are horrified at the state of women's rights in the US.

"Spit on them! They are not human!" says the Bishop.

These radical prohibitionists need to see sense and back down.

Break out the popcorn -- it's a cage match between Rubio and Cruz over amnesty!  Their supporters snipe at each other here (but skip the comments on Muslims or homosexuality -- the dumbth will make your brain hurt).  Oh, and Rubio's not looking like the savior the establishment was hoping for.

Libertarianism can sound good in theory, but it doesn't work in reality.

The lie of "both sides do it" is getting more blatant than ever.

Religion is religion -- though some Islamists are actually more liberal on birth control.

Republicans' idea of leadership is whipping up panic and paranoia -- even the no-hopers are trying itMore here.

Green Eagle is keeping tabs on the blatherings of the wingnuts.

Teh stoopid is strong with these ones.

Kurds aren't the only women fighters taking up arms against Dâ'ish.

Hillary's plan to fight jihadist terrorism doesn't lend itself to Republican-style sound bites, but it sounds similar to what has proven most successful in Europe.

Obama's leadership style is adapted to the real world.

Trump may do even better in the Republican contest than the polls suggest -- and yes, if he's not the nominee he could definitely run as an independent.  If he were President, he'd set American law back a century -- but some top military officers would quit rather than serve under him.

Here's how the racist subculture is interpreting the new Star Wars movie (NSFW) -- yes, they're serious.

Krugman explains why the Paris accord may yet save the world despite the Republicans going crazier than ever.

Obamacare -- not everything we wanted, still worth fighting for.

Good riddance.

Republicans -- crapping on the rug, but less honest than chimps.

Most Americans still celebrate Christmas, but increasingly as a secular holiday.  If you weren't a reader two years ago, see my post on why atheists have no reason to reject Christmas.

Hell, the 2015 Solstice is already here man, the year seemed to go by so fast (guess cause I'm getting older) ... still going through your links here, but I couple comments I wanted to add first.

Cthulhu's crib is kick ass, certainly not as boring as some! ... but talking about "cribs" ... I can tell you my crib (home) is a 2 bedroom 2 bath in North Dallas (humour) {:- )

I was checking out the rant of Bishop Amvrosios, got a laugh out of it ... I mean like ... look who's talking about gayz not being human, etc heh, heh, heh, heh, heh (:- ) ... if anyone dont look human or act human ... you can bet the Bishop ties for first place!! ... Goddamn f'n rag- headed, ZZ Top bearded lookin MF! ( he's just angry because gayz turn him down for a date), heh, heh, heh, heh, heh {:- )

About the strippers deal raising money for the kidz ... actually strippers had one of them charity drives going here in Dallas for years ... I remember about 15 or so years back ... some local fundamoralists whined about the strippers here in Dallas dressing scantilly outside the strip joints on a major intersection raising money, of course it blew over in time (fundamoralists bitch over a f'n bad hair day man) ... but they actually done pretty well on getting donations, being out there looking hot (sexy) brought the folks in (good marketing) ... then it made them feel good to donate to a worthy cause. Like hitting 2 birds with 1 stone ... or I reckon what they call "multi- tasking" {:- )

I'll be back to view some more, gotta do some shopping ... I hate shopping this time of the year, especially in North Dallas! Just to go shopping for personal shit and groceries having to deal with the masses of Christmas shoppers, yesterday I just stopped by a Target Store in Addison just to by some mouthwash, toothpaste, razors and the related ... damn man ... the lines were so goddamn long!

I knew one of those cartoons would catch your fancy. I just didn't know which one. Thanks for linking!

The item about 30% of Republicans willing to bomb Agrabah demonstrates the truth about the adage that war is how Americans learn geography. Obviously watching cartoons doesn't do the job. Disney is probably having a sad right now.

That Cthulhu crib is bound to traumatize a baby who sleeps in it! (Or maybe they'd love all the fun, tangled tentacles. Who knows?) And to think that when I was a toddler, I was scared of the little red rooster painted on my crib.

The Lovecraftian flasks are harrowing and beautiful. I'd love to give my friends homemade wine in those flasks.

The bald eagle's bad reaction to Trump was not only inauspicious, but a sign that Trump didn't bother to do research on how to handle a raptor. As usual, Trump has no desire to educate himself about anything.

The findings of the human rights delegation should humble us. We Americans like to think of ourselves as enlightened and free, but in reality, the U.S. has a LONG way to go toward gender equality.

Ranch: You may well be right about Amvrosios. People who are that obsessively anti-gay often have something within themselves that they're in denial to themselves about.

Glad to hear the fundies don't get everything their own way in Dallas.

Pinku: The similarity between Trump and Jabba has struck me before. Jabba, after all, was a powerful and sleazy businessman (businessslug?) with a flair for showmanship.

I'm not sure some of these troglodytes can learn anything even from war.

Ahab: Good point about the crib -- the fear of snakes and snake-like things is instinctive. It's best considered a work of art rather than a practical crib -- unless for an actual baby Great Old One.

It's striking that some Americans, even when told how far behind we've slipped in women's rights, simply refuse to believe it. Refusal to acknowledge a problem makes it almost impossible to solve it.

Re the white racist interpretation of the new Star Wars movie, dafuq was I just looking at (I think that thing caused my IQ to drop by at least 20 points)?! No doubt another shining example of Aryan intellectual superiority at work. (Sort of reminds me of assorted Internet screeds I've seen about the alleged mental inferiority of other races, written by people who can't spell for shit, and couldn't string a coherent sentence together if their lives depended on it.)

Not at all surprising to see the rabid right-wingers' favourite new word, "cuck", appear in that visual abomination - they sure seem to love throwing that around lately, don't they? There's some neoreactionary loon (whose blog I still periodically check out, mainly when I experience some perverse compulsion to commit the mental equivalent of slamming a door repeatedly on my testicles), who seems to think that conservatives' current love affair with the word "cuck" is a sure sign that the Dark Enlightenment is about to triumph. Um yeah, whatever dude. (Not surprisingly, he's a rabid Trump supporter.)

Zosimus: There's plenty of stuff like that floating around the internet -- pretty much a whole (thankfully small in numbers) subculture of it. Everything is a plot by "the Jews" to turn us all gay and/or get white women to sleep with black men. I can hardly imagine the mental state of people who spend their time steeped in this stuff, but it's hardly surprising that every so often one of them goes completely over the edge and shoots up some random place.

Paul: They seem to have changed how that works. On your dashboard when you're logged in, below "Reading list" at the left, there's a button labeled "Add". If you click that, you get a box to enter the URL of the blog you want to follow.

Thanks!
