Videos of the week -- this is the enemy
As the Republican primaries have reminded us, the Christian Right remains a real power within the Republican party. Here are a couple of refreshers from Frank Schaeffer, whose roots are in the Christian Right and who thus knows it far better than most of us do.

I think ole Frank sum's it up straight to the point, this is why I say "what happened to true conservatisism", many today arent conservative on a goddamn thing actually, those who are have let their party basically be hijacked and held hostage by rag tag relgious freak's ... basically trailer trash : )
BTW, for anyone who may read this comment and think that I only am focusing on Christian's ... no not so ... I see muslim's, jews and all as similar trash : )
I think Frank got it just perfect when he labeled the Xtian fundamentalists "village idiots."
The question is how did the idiots take control of the Republican Party?
Where is the courage in the GOP to tell these regressive, fire and brimstone believing nuts that their brand of 17th century religion is ludicrous and has no place in an advanced society?
The anti-Christ? Really? Too bad stupidity isn't painful.
"... need to rescue Christianity from Christians". How true! But the Conservatives have to own this monster, they fanned the flames and gave these nuts legitimacy, all in the rush to garner votes and retain power.
"This is the American version of the Taliban". This phrase of American Taliban needs to be hammered over and over until it becomes a meme just as identifiable as "ObamaCare"
RC: The meaning of "true conservatism" changes with time, unfortunately. It used to be Goldwater and now it's "God hates fags".
SK: The party sold its soul to the Devil, or rather the idiots, in the late 1970s when the fundies started getting political in a big way because they were freaking out over the sexual revolution and the gay movement. That won the party an army of dedicated supporters, but as so often happens, that army has now usurped the power it once served.
RtS: It's getting there. I hear "Talibangelicals" too.
