If McCain chooses Palin

In choosing Joe Biden as his running mate, Obama made a "safe" and conventional pick (though Biden's role in the Hill-Thomas imbroglio will not endear him to PUMAs already furious at the misogyny of the primary season). If McCain does the opposite and chooses Sarah Palin, each party's ticket will consist of an older, experienced political warhorse plus a younger, charismatic figure (and Palin, while slightly younger even than Obama, does have executive experience as Governor of Alaska).

If McCain wins the election but serves only one term, his Vice President will be a strong contender for the 2012 Republican nomination. Since Hillary Clinton is sure to try for the Democratic nomination that year, it is conceivable that the 2012 Presidential race could be between two women.

What shocks me a lot is the American view of a family man. In CNN, they blatantly saying that Biden is married and got 3 kids (I think I got the number correct here)...It is so important for Americans ! In countries like France, Germany, Spain...family issue (being married and having kids) doesn't make a big plus point for the candidate. Of course it helps as they fall under the 'norm' of the society.

In countries like India or other south east democractic countries, this family point is so evident, they don't talk about it and don't make a big issue. As far as India, the previous PM was a bachelor at his 70's. Nobody really talked about his family or anything during the elections. After the elections, people talked about it as who would do the the first lady position...

American politicians should lead a "normal" family life (happily married to a nice woman who bakes cakes for their neighbors and having kids is plus). Of course I am talking about the majority. And the CNN Flash news was a proof. At the same time, BBC World or Al Jazeera didn't talk about his marriage or family. They were concentrated on the political angle.

Despite the Dems and the allied main stream media’s desperation to see Romney as McCain’s Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCain’s 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries — Romney did way more than that contra McCain.

This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlenty’s lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palin’s name, that is, everyone but…..

And if there’s any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at palinforvp.blogspot.com

Team McCain, well done!!!
