Link round-up for 12 September 2026

Various interesting stuff I ran across on the net over the last week.

Seven weeks to Halloween!

This complicated basketball shot didn't work out very well.

Time to take your pun-ishment.

Karma struck fast when he tried to zap the dog.

Some people are kind of clumsy.

This is not the best way to get on board a boat.

Pole dancing practice did not go well.

You have been warned.

Golf carts and idiots are a bad combination.  So are motorcycles and idiots.

This man was pervertedly attacked by his own bicycle.

Here is some disturbing news involving underpants and eels.

Mama will teach you to sing.

Hey, I caught a fish..... yikes!

His son managed to help with the gardening.

If aliens exist out there in the universe, they are probably sex fiends.

I am so glad to be living in Oregon right now.

Are you sure you heard that song right?

Dogs should not be taken aboard airplanes or named after other animals.

This was lucky, but next time, stay on the sidewalk.

Apparently the Hindu gods are a bunch of assholes.  Some of their followers are pretty nasty too.

Here are some cool pictures from foggy Ontario.

See photos from around Salem MA, the witchy city.

You can do cool stop-motion stuff at home.

Let your heroes enjoy life after their victories.

Nothing is ever her fault.

Here's a very effective short story of a man's struggle to escape a stigma he was brainwashed into carrying.

Spoken language is on the decline, which could eventually lead to a decline in mental ability.

This is Europe's first fully-private-sector space launch.

"Victory gardens" and "dig for victory" fed two nations during World War II.  Perhaps we should try to revive these today, to combat food price inflation.

If you have an LG TV or are considering getting one, you need to read this.

Here's info about one website to avoid when checking your voter registration status -- it's an Elon Musk surveillance project.

If you get an offer of a "free MyChart Medicare kit", it's a scam.

Drivers hate those touch-screens in new cars -- they're actually a negative in deciding whether to buy a car or not.

This music festival stood up to a bigot.

"AI" isn't replacing workers -- it's just making them miserable.  Link also includes "AI" news from around the country, including California and new York fighting back.

Waymo maintenance is one of the worst jobs out there.

Here's another "influencer" who didn't realize how hated "AI" is.  She soon learned.

A bunch of Christians set up camp at Burning Man, then engaged in such asshole behavior that they had to be kicked out.

Here's why the Maryland Renaissance Faire has banned furries.

Creepy perverts are freaking out as Meta starts cracking down on their use of "smart" glasses to harass people.

Cameron Capara died an ironically appropriate death.

We need to stop letting unpredictable autonomous robots run around loose.  Imagine a wheelchair-bound person encountering this shit.

Deaths from ectopic pregnancies have risen sharply in the US since 2020, largely due to forced-birth laws which interfere with prompt treatment.

The ACLU reminds us other surveillance camera manufacturers are just as big a threat as Flock.  City after city has made a show of canceling its Flock contract, then quietly made a new deal with some other camera company so that nothing actually changes.

The Kimmel-Talarico interview which the Trumpazoid FCC tried to suppress has gone viral on YouTube.  Would-be censors never learn.

Remember Rick Rescorla, one of the thousands murdered on September 11.

This is what the September 11 attack was like on the ground.

The "jumpers" were not suicides.

Here's what some Marines were doing during the attack.

The jihadists have found plenty of useful idiots within the West.  This is what they look like.

After the September 11 attack, there was one country in the Middle East that mourned with us instead of celebrating.

Cenk Uygur declares that "antisemite" now means "a very moral and kind person".  These types always reveal their true colors in the end.

Emily Oberg experimented with using "AI" to fake fashion photos, but it can't do that properly either.

At least in Los Angeles, police are finally doing something serious about gang street takeovers.

This data center in Colorado waters its lawn so copiously as to create puddles, while its neighbors are under severe water-usage restrictions due to a drought.

"And yet, too many Democratic leaders have responded with silence, euphemisms, or carefully crafted statements designed to avoid political discomfort and election losses.  They have treated the rise of Islamic-influenced antisemitism as a public-relations problem rather than a moral failure.  They have confused legitimate concern about extremist ideology with prejudice against Moslems..... This is not compassion.  It is cowardice."

Meta delayed for days removing ads containing "AI"-generated child porn from Facebook and Instagram, some of it based on identifiable actual children.  Then there's this stuff, which isn't sexual abuse, but..... what the hell kind of freaks like looking at such things?

Here's a short video about Carl, the peaceful freedom fighter of St Petersburg FL.

In the workplace, only those in positions of power support "AI".  It helps them bully and harass their workers, while those workers get held responsible for all the mistakes made by the "AI" they're forced to use.

This man exists.  And he's far from unique in manifesting such shocking callousness.

Point Pleasant WV is being ruined by data center construction.  Since they can't stop it, some residents are moving out.

A lawsuit alleges that this Denver church hired a music director who did not have legal authorization to work in the US, then tried to silence a thirteen-year-old girl who was raped by this man, who also made sexual overtures to other minors.

MapQuest's app has reached #1 in the US after it rejected Trump's "re-naming" of Lake Ontario.

A court has ruled that Massachusetts police must reveal where their surveillance cameras are.

Top Republican election officials in several states are joining with Democrats in urging the Supreme Court to prevent Trump from buggering up mail-in voting.

An Amarillo police officer stalked a man for five months by using his access to various surveillance systems.  And the authorities still don't acknowledge that the victim is a victim.

The next No Kings events will focus on voter turnout.

This really looks like a sad, nasty old man suffering from severe dementia.  On the other hand, as long as people are talking about nonsensical "renamings" and crazed social-media posts, they're not talking about the price of groceries or fuel, or about Epstein.

The billionaires have launched their propaganda campaign trying to fool you into supporting data centers, so far in just three states.

The old economic dogmas don't describe reality any more.

Dumbasses keep on using "AI" to plan hiking trips, with disastrous results.  I don't see why any money should be spent on rescuing such idiots.  Everyone knows by now that "AI" is constantly wrong about things.  If they still rely on it, to hell with them.

Jewish institutions in North America now spend over a billion dollars per year on security (note:  "Galus" means "diaspora" or "exile").

In Texas, Hinojosa focuses her campaign on opposing data centers and billionaire privilege.

Talarico is backing away hard from the trans nonsense.  Clearly he grasps that he's got a real chance to win this thing if he just avoids sounding like a lunatic.

In 2025 the combined wealth of the world's billionaires surpassed fifteen trillion dollars.

Until JD Vance repudiates Tucker Carlson, he can't be trusted.

Democratic campaigns and PACs are focusing on the anti-data-center message, finding that it resonates strongly with voters.

The Canadian government admits that male criminals placed in women's prisons have raped female inmates, but claims that this "does not infringe the rights" of the victims.

Here is what JK Rowling actually does.

Restaurants are using "AI"-faked pictures of food on their menus, turning off customers.  Seriously, you can't just get a camera and take a real photo of your own food?

Things are pretty bad when even the police refuse to obey the law until they're threatened with legal action.

"AI" in medicine is a serious danger to patients, but doctors in the UK are being pressured to use it.

Islam, and pandering to it, are undermining British democracy.

The UK and other European countries which have hypocritically imposed sanctions on Israel are increasingly dependent on Israeli technology for their national security.

UK nativist leader Nigel Farage promises to repair relations with Israel if his party comes to power.  It's a task reminiscent of what our own next president will face, repairing relations with all the democracies Trump has antagonized.

A "German" man -- from Kosovo.

As expected, the nativist AfD has won big in the German state of Sachsen-Anhalt, but fell just short of an absolute majority.  It will probably end up governing the state in coalition with the BSW, a small party combining "far-left" economic views with a "far-right" anti-immigration position (sounds like my kind of people).  The old establishment parties of Europe face a choice -- they can obey their voters and crack down hard on immigration and Islam, or in the next few years Europe will be run by people like Alice Weidel, Nigel Farage, and Marine Le Pen.

Staff at the Eiffel Tower went on a one-day strike after women staff members were "sidelined" at the request of a visiting Hindu group.  The management should have just told the dirty religious trash that they could either abide by the same rules as everyone else does or skip their Eiffel Tower visit.

Immigrants are 9% of Italy's population, but commit 44% of the rapes and 50% of the gang rapes.

A Russian air defense system got blown up in Sochi.  Here's video of another attack on the city.

This was a Russian ammunition warehouse.

Russia is using "AI"-faked videos to support its false claims of territorial gains against Ukraine.

If the Palestinians on the West Bank were really living under a repressive occupation, would they be able to behave like this?

"The idea of a two-state solution..... was swept away by the massacres of 7 October, existing only in the febrile minds of foreign politicians who have long since lost touch with reality."  Anyone who fails to understand this fact is simply irrelevant at this point.

No other country on Earth makes as much effort to protect enemy civilians as Israel does.

Netanyahu has recently implied that Israel is still working on bringing down the Iranian regime, though he gave no details.

The recent claim that Netanyahu was warned in advance about the October 7 attack comes from a book which cites only a few anonymous sources.  Netanyahu is filing a defamation lawsuit against the newspaper that reported the claim as news.

"If you don't sign this paper we're giving you, if you don't say the things we want, we'll rape your sister in front of you."

When will the Iranians rebel against the regime?  They've never stopped.

My posts this week:  an image round-up, and a brief observation of the September 11 anniversary.

o o o o o

The September 11 attack was not a "tragedy".  A tragedy implies something that just happens out of nowhere, like a flood or an earthquake.  September 11 was an act of mass murder -- and murders are committed by people.  There can be no meaningful remembrance without keeping the focus on who did it.

Change-the-subject trolls need to realize how infuriating they are.  It is maddening to write an entire post about, say, Iran, only to have somebody in the comments ignore everything I said and go off about Trump instead.

Charlie Kirk seems to be a target of especially intense hatred.  I suspect it's because, unlike most ideologists, he called for dialog with people who did not agree with him.  That makes him anathema to the dead-end "always hate and fight the opposing party" mentality.  Our politics is still dominated by the two noisy camps of fanatics on the left and right fringes, screaming "fascist" and "communist" at each other over our heads, and each camp demonizing half the population.  We will never get anywhere until we can break the grip of those two fringe camps on the national conversation.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning -- I reject all comments containing any of the following:

1. Support for transgenderism
2. Negativity about Brexit
3. Support for a military draft or compulsory national service

I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent. And obviously I'm going to delete anything which is just quoting what an "AI" said. I want to hear from you, not from the always-wrong hallucination machine.

No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.

Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
