Link round-up for 13 June 2026

Various interesting stuff I ran across on the net over the last week.

There are angels at work.

".....but we'd die more awesomer."

Let Dave Barry help you plan your summer vacation.

Clean car, clean dog.

It's rare that you see synchronized mistakes.

If you're going to be a bad driver, be really bad.

Stupidity and ladders are a bad combination.

What would a dog and a wolf say to each other?

These abominations are African catfish.  Which are large.  And I have no idea what the hell this is.

"Sometimes the wolf cries girl."

See how big all that stuff out in space actually is.

Levels of toxic "forever chemicals" in seabird eggs near the St Lawrence Seaway have declined sharply, showing that tighter regulation is succeeding.

Smoke from wildfires affects the brain, leading to increases in violent behavior and inhibiting learning.

Humans have an innate preference for turning counterclockwise.  It's curious that we didn't therefore design our clocks to run that way.

Here's how courtyard blocks foster social connection -- and why Europe has them and the US doesn't.  The contrast between the European and US photos in the article is startling.

Real doctors are now releasing their own vaccination guidance, bypassing RFK Jr's anti-vax quackistocracy at the CDC.

There is a recall under way of certain baby wipes from Target due to possible microbe contamination.

Read this and consider whether you still want to entrust "AI" with anything important.

"Just 3 words:  you are not alone."

Here's a new thing you need to fix if you still use Windows 11.

Technical innovation opens up new possibilities for road piracy.

Macho looksmaxxingtards are injecting themselves with extra testosterone believing it will make them more masculine, but instead are suffering the most appropriate possible consequence -- bollock atrophy and plummeting sperm count.

The Catholic Church just fired one of its exorcists for saying that UFOs are demons.  But the real story here is that the Catholic Church still has exorcists.  And believes in demons.  In the twenty-first century.

Here's what it's like dealing with the rich.

Google's CEO is gaga for "AI", but the actual workers are ridiculing it.

PepsiCo is deploying driverless delivery trucks in certain states.  If you're among the first people killed by one of these, remember that at least you died for the noble cause of putting truck drivers out of work.

Dogs are becoming seriously more aggressive and dangerous.  Problems with training puppies during the covid pandemic are probably to blame.

"But this was never how refugee crises were resolved anywhere else."

Here's what slavery in the old South was like -- in the words of a slave owner (disturbing).

It's amazing how people lie about things that are easily checked.

This New Jersey snack company, realizing everybody hates "AI"-generated ads, took its advertising low-tech instead.  It seems to be working.

A new book reveals how panicked Trump and his toadies were about the Epstein files coming out.  Remember that, in fact, almost no real information has been released yet.  The cover-up has, so far, been successful.

Meet Lawrence Lowell, an early exponent of DEI.

Here's an example of how propaganda sometimes works.  Always be wary and check things, so you don't get fooled.

Last month, solar power overtook coal as a source of electricity in the US, despite Trump's desperate efforts to boost the declining coal industry.

The Massachusetts "millionaire tax" has brought in much more revenue than expected.

A lawsuit alleges that a fifteen-year-old schoolgirl wrestler in Washington state was sexually assaulted by a boy pretending to be a girl during a match, and that state officials have been foot-dragging and obfuscating in response to complaints.  See video here -- not explicit, but disturbing when you realize the person on top is actually a boy.  The usual bullshit denialism is already being trotted out, but doesn't seem to be fooling anyone.

Elon Musk is now, technically, a trillionaire, though that's mostly because of the on-paper value of his SpaceX stock, which won't survive the inevitable "AI" bubble collapse.

Investigators are looking into Bill Gates's ties with Epstein.

Tomorrow there will be a No Kings rally in celebration of the First Amendment.

The CEO announces that there will be no raises because he spent all the money budgeted for raises on "AI" instead.

A lesbian has some observations about Pride Month.

The Nazi tattoo guy's former campaign political director speaks out.

The lawyer who defended Ken Paxton during his impeachment trial has endorsed Talarico.

Thank goodness this particular billionaire won't be governor of California.  Not that I have high hopes for whoever will.

Analysis shows that the "Trump Mobile" is, as expected, a cheap Chinese phone with an even cheaper gold paint job.

The Jeff-Bezos-owned Washington Post is being sued for using surveillance pricing.

The claims that "AI" could destroy civilization are just another marketing scam.

Doctors in Utah are being forced to adapt to rapidly growing measles outbreaks as vaccination rates drop.

Lawyers in Mississippi were caught using "AI" by an infuriated judge.  They got fined and sanctioned, but really, lawyers who use "AI" need to be disbarred for life.  They're defrauding their clients, who paid for competent legal representation.

Mamdani is being sued for refusing to hand over documents related to several of his anti-Jewish or anti-Israel actions.

Virginia's new assault weapons ban goes into effect on July 1.  Gun sales are surging in advance of the date, and many local officials are saying they'll refuse to enforce the law.

Trump wants you to invest in the "AI" boom.  You'd be better off with Dutch tulip bulbs.

Maryland is the first state to ban surveillance pricing.

These assholes think they're above the law.

"But the one data point that you should know is that the stock market is now the most overvalued in history, more so than 2000 or even 1929."

Trump's last medical exam was carried out by an unprecedented twenty-two specialist doctors.

This year's "Walk with Israel" event in Toronto attracted more participants than ever before.  If evil is becoming more energized these days, so is good.  Here are some photos (note the Iranian resistance flags).

Tremulous, quavering jellyfish at a UK museum are putting warning stickers on books that reflect supposedly "outdated" views.

Gays are now being reframed as the bad guys.

This pedo who sexually abused his own daughter for nine years has been paroled after just half his sentence.  The victim was not even allowed legal counsel to contest the decision.

Scotland's axe-and-knife girl (whose name has not been given out in the media) has been vindicated as the migrant who attacked her and her friends is found guilty.  The girl's courageous defense gave rise to viral memes such as this one and this one among the resistance.

British voters are angry and demanding change, with support rising for the nativist Reform UK party.

"When governments become sclerotic and unresponsive, violence becomes the only way of reaching them."  People's patience is running out, all over Europe.  Pictures here (scroll sown a bit).

"It is simply no longer sustainable to force working-class communities to endure such levels of terror, to bear the brunt of the elites' open-door experiment."

The German political establishment, represented by chancellor Merz, are practically crapping their pants in terror as voters abandon them in droves to support the new nativist AfD party.  Listen to your voters and stop the damn mass immigration, dumbasses.

Speaking of which, this asshole can STFU.

Yakutia in Siberia is Russia's "diamond capital".  And it looks like a slum.

Russia is using ordinary civilians cars to deliver fuel to the front line in Ukraine, since its military fuel trucks keep getting blown up.

See the aftermath of new Ukrainian attacks in the Leningrad region (yes, it's still called that, even though the name of the city was changed to St Petersburg).

Driving a Russian van full of explosives is not a safe job.

Ukraine has been absolutely hammering the Russians in occupied Donetsk.

An oil depot burns in Ust-Labinsk in the Krasnodar region.  And this one is in occupied Crimea.

One rocket in this Russian barrage failed to launch, but evidently still detonated.

Russia is losing the war thanks to Ukraine's remarkable capacity for technological innovation.  It's time for the US to help Ukraine finish the job.

As Tel Aviv's annual gay pride parade begins (just try that in any Islamic country), police have already thwarted a threatened anti-gay attack.

Missile launchers are legitimate targets no matter where they are.

Trump claims to have reached a "deal" with the Iranian regime which would leave it in power to rearm itself for future attacks on Israel and the West and to continue terrorizing the Iranian people.  Of course, you never know with this guy.  There are already signs of rejection from more hard-line elements within the fractured regime, and yesterday there were serious disputes between Trump and people claiming to speak for the regime about what the deal consisted of.

My own posts this week:  some truths and inspirations, a video on cheating death, and my review of Les Leopold's new book on how to build a viable economic-populist third party.

Just in case it needs saying:  I will never use any form of "AI" in any part of the process of writing this blog, no exceptions.

Democratic primary voters in Maine went ahead and nominated the Nazi tattoo guy, echoing the blunder of their Texas Republican counterparts two weeks earlier.  Now it's up to general election voters to re-assert basic decency by electing Talarico and (Satan preserve us) Collins.  Predictably, neither party's leadership has had the integrity to repudiate its respective disgusting candidate.  They care only about winning, even if it means electing scum.

Trump's craven hypocrisy was on full display this week.  After crudely and insultingly ordering Israel not to retaliate for Iranian and Hezbollah attacks on its territory, he immediately retaliated after a US helicopter was shot down.  Netanyahu defied Trump and retaliated anyway, and he should continue to do so.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning: anything supporting transgender ideology, or negative toward Brexit, or in favor of a military draft or compulsory national service, will be deleted. I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent.

No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.

Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
