Video of the day -- the outer worlds
An excellent summation of what we learned from the New Horizons probe. About the planet Pluto, yes, but also about its moons and the tiny, vastly ancient worldlet of Arrokoth. It is fitting that the latter's name sounds like something out of Lovecraft -- all of this icy, faraway domain has that kind of feel about it. Use fullscreen.

At one time didn't they think Pluto might not even be a Planet, or was I imagining that was a rumor going around? I'd love to see Images from every Planet eventually in our Solar System.
After Pluto was demoted, I could claim to have seen all the planets with my own eyes/telescope.
Bohemian: Foul, abominable heretics at one point claimed that Pluto was not a planet, based on vile lies of the Devil. They will be punished for their sins by the god of the Underworld.
There are probably lots of planetary surface images, but in many cases it's not possible. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune don't really have any "surface", and on Venus the atmosphere is so thick that we can't see the surface from space. So it's basically Mercury, Earth, Mars, and Pluto.
Phat: If your telescope is good enough to see Neptune I'd think you'd have a shot at seeing Pluto as well, even if only as a dot.
Very neat and interesting. Thank you for posting this.
Glad you liked it!
