Some really good ones, but I especially love the very last one. I actually feel my Mother was the only one who truly loved me deeply and unconditionally…besides my pet doggies.

ReplyDeleteMary: I felt that way too. And always remember, while an animal may love you sincerely, it's only capable of knowing you on a rather limited level. In most cases your mother knows you better that anyone else does.

"Maturity is working through your trauma and not using it as a never ending excuse for poor behaviour" Indeed. It's very fashionable right now to trot out some distressing personal experience and expect instant sympathy and suspended judgment.
ReplyDeleteThe double decker outhouse concerns me a little. It needs some redesign. I can already hear the bitching and moaning from the inconvenience of having to climb the ladder.
ReplyDeleteNick: Yes, that's the fad these days. Everybody wants to be special, and at the current moment, the way to be special is to be more oppressed and downtrodden than the next guy. Lots of people -- maybe most -- do have genuine trauma, of course, but it can't be treated as a permanent exemption from the obligation to refrain from traumatizing other people.
