Video of the day -- the failed state

People from several foreign countries watch a report on covid-19 in the US; here you see their reactions.  Trump's ineptitude and the truculent stupidity of the science-denying knuckle-draggers has reduced the world's most powerful nation to an object of pity.

  1. Rex Tillerson calling Donald Trump "a fucking moron" turned out to be a vast understatement.

But it's not surprising. Nearly everything Donald Trump ever touched, during his entire life, ended up either devalued, broken, bankrupt or otherwise in shambolic ruins. Casinos. An airline. A "university." A brand of water. A brand of steaks. A foreign golf resort. The United States of America is merely the latest disaster. It's a wonder he hasn't shot himself yet. (However if he tries, he might survive, but missing a toe.)

    Yours crankily,

  2. I love their reactions of disbelief. They should be here and see how numb to this everyone is becoming. No one says "He can't do something any dumber" anymore.

  3. Oh dear. So much truth.
IMPOTUS did an interview with Axios and now it’s all over the place. His stupidity, ineptitude and lack of coherence out in the open for the world to see. So very pathetic.

  4. It’s embarrassing, isn’t it...what we have become, how far down we have fallen...all in the name of willful ignorance, poor education, religious extremism, racism, self centeredness and a love of conspiracy theories.

  6. You did a great job summarizing the pitiful, unbelievable, mockery-worthy truths about today US, the "world's greatest nation." Trump sunk us to a level worthy of global mockery and fury. So much to be ashamed of, no time to fix any one thing because people are dying by the scores. It's sobering.

But I'm glad for our connection, Infidel.
    Thank you.
    Stay safe and well.

  9. It doesn't surprise me that most of the people in the video didn't realize how bad things are here. Foreigners generally don't know much about the problems posed by the "stupid one-third" of our population. I've had the experience of explaining to people from Japan and Taiwan that there are actually people in the US who want to teach religious mythology (creationism) alongside evolution in science classes here. They found it very hard to imagine that this could be true. The local religions in those countries have their own myths, of course, but nobody there is trying to teach those myths as fact in science classes.

  10. I read a good book a couple of years back. "Fantasyland: How America went Haywire" by Kurt Andersen. Well written and goes into all this and how we got here. Good read.
