Fascinating. A similiar phenomena occured amongst the Chinese ruling class during their democracy demonstrations. There are many examples of such families taking one or more of their children and sending them abroad to live, as sort of an immigration anchor, should the whole family have had to escape a revolution. I worked with two such "anchors" myself.
