This will be me, when the time comes.  People getting all bovinely "philosophical" about the inevitability of death makes me want to vomit.

Gloria Steinem with Billie Jean King and Sally Ride in 1983.

I can hardly remember any election that the activist types weren't calling "the most important election of our lifetime" at the time.

Our country is the center of the plague and it is up to us to stop it.

The AI mushroom cartoon . . . ugh! I had a disagreement with my son over AI. He thinks it's a very useful tool, as does my spouse. Last Friday, my google search turned into the AI Overview thing when I asked for the closest lab with Saturday hours within a specific hospital system. It did give me the closest lab and weekend hours, but when I went directly to the lab's website, I discovered that it's actually closed on Sat/Sun. My husband claims it's because that's not a good question for AI. If I can't trust it with something simple, why would I trust it with something complicated??

If I remember correctly, there have actually been cases of people who died because they believed "AI" about what mushrooms were safe.

I definitely remember a case of a man who was planning to travel to a foreign country, and he asked an "AI" whether he needed a visa to enter the country or not. It told him he didn't. When he arrived there, he was refused entry into the country because he didn't have a visa. If he'd just gone to the website of the country's embassy instead, he'd have gotten accurate information. It's insane how people rely on "AI" instead of real sources.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning -- I reject all comments containing any of the following:

1. Support for transgenderism
2. Negativity about Brexit
3. Support for a military draft or compulsory national service

I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent. And obviously I'm going to delete anything which is just quoting what an "AI" said. I want to hear from you, not from the always-wrong hallucination machine.

No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.

Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.

From now until the finalization of the election results, no comments claiming the Republicans (or Democrats) will or can "steal" the election. It's pointless to engage with such stuff, and it promotes defeatism, which makes people less likely to vote or otherwise be politically active.
