Some straight talking from Pat Condell

Among my readers there are probably some, poor deprived souls that they are, who are not familiar with YouTuber Pat Condell.  I've been watching his videos on and off for years, and I know of no one who can match him for blunt, honest talk on the subject of religion.  These are some of what I consider his best ones -- they're several years old, but Condell's wisdom is timeless.

One note, to those who are themselves religious -- he really does not pull any punches, so you may find what he says offensive.  Watch at your own risk.

First up, why religion doesn't deserve respect:

Next, his message to atheists:

Islam in Europe -- if anything, things have gotten even worse since he made this:

People are getting sick and tired of the situation -- this one was prophetic, in light of what's now happening in European party politics:

This is the first time I've heard of this guy.
Thanks for posting. I'll watch at least one today (trying to make myself turn the computer off and set a timer and you know, DO something besides sit).

Mostly I love his unapologetic confidence. He's not acting like a jerk or being overbearing, he's just saying what he believes.

Of course having grown up in the evangenital Christian cult, had I seen these videos as one of them, I would have been horrified and angry. And also felt quite strong. So much of what I was taught was performative. Stand up for gawd!!!

And then, having stood up (handing out tracts to my school mates, wearing jesus jewelry, going to every church function proudly) presumably HE would notice me and reward me, either now or later, in heaven.

What a messed up way to view the world.

Once in awhile I'm amazed all over again that I walked away from that crap.

Oh, I love his confidence too. There's no need to be reticent about expressing such views, but even most atheists still tend to be. He definitely speaks for me.

I'm very glad I never had any religious beliefs. It is obviously a great struggle to break free of them.

I'm always happy when someone more articulate than I can express what I think on these matters. Mr Condell certainly falls into that category. However, I may be a hypocrite, but I sometimes attend a high Episcopal service. I think it's pretty and the communicants are better class of people than you find elsewhere.

Huston: I'm glad you thought so. He speaks for me too.

I would never attend a church service. It's just not in my background. But I'm sure you'd meet a better class of people there than at the average mosque.
