About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

Never take a 2nd Amendment quote from Texas as truth.
Of course, Washington didn't say citizens should arm themselves against government.
According to the National Archives site Founder’s Online, during his Jan. 8, 1790, speech to Congress, Washington said: “A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies.”
I love everything about that last one. The pain or button that says God was my co-pilot but we crashed and I had to eat him is so funny.
Dave: Point conceded, after some investigation. I've deleted the item. There are certainly plenty of quotes from leaders at the time saying such things, though. Don't forget, those guys had just overthrown a government themselves, and the risk that the new government might turn tyrannical someday was very much on their minds.
Mary K: I like the spirit of the last one too. The world isn't going to be impressed anyway -- people always find things to point fingers about. But at least we have some control over our own happiness.
Unfortunately I don't think gods are very nutritious -- they're pretty insubstantial.
These are always great! A mixture of funny images and food for thought!
That's what I aim for.....
