Video of the day -- courage
Iranian women defy the repressive laws of their country's theocratic regime. Note the almost comical rage of the bearded religious bullies at the sight of any refusal to conform to the idiotic taboos of their fatuous belief system. Iran is not a particularly religious country -- it's much less religious than the US. The system now in place there is imposed purely by force and fear. But force and fear are powerful tools. It is the courage to resist that will eventually bring change.

Wow - what a struggle.
Religious "rules" are meant to control, not enlighten.
makes me want to drink.
These women need to start hitting back at these assholes that think they can just walk up and hit a woman. Time for some self-defense classes.
Lady M: They've got a tough fight under a regime like that.
Ricko: Yes, and a place like Iran just makes it more blatant than here.
Granny: Sorry, Islam doesn't allow that either.
Mike: I've heard of a couple of cases where some bullying mullah got beaten up by women. Ideally they would have guns, but authoritarian regimes are usually pretty strict about not letting their people have the means to fight back.
Those women are heroic freedom fighters that should be revered. I doubt I'd have their guts were I in their shoes. I'm not proud of them, as the woman in the video said. I've played no part in cultivating their courage. Their achievements are their own. But, I admire their bravery and support their cause 100%. They should be abundantly proud of themselves. Despite its backward theocracy, Iran is still a country with many intellectuals and artists. I hope such protests only continue to grow and that men join the fight.
It does take courage, which I'm sure I wouldn't have either. Iran is what it is, and this wretched theocracy won't last forever. There have been campaigns by men against the repressive laws as well. Nobody likes a scolding prig, especially one empowered to arrest and torture people.
