Video of the day -- true evil

Evil exists.  This is evil.

Ugh
The priest asking for a 'state of tolerance' instead of 'forgiveness'. Barf.
The history of abuse in the catholic church is nauseating. As a recovering catholic who went to a catholic school until tenth grade, I can tell you: they're disgusting.

XOXO

Religion is at root evil. It judges, makes excuses, condemns, punishes, promotes violence, covers up, lies, starts wars and insidiously brainwashes the masses who cannot think for themselves.

These monstrous crimes against children must be kept before the public. People tend to forget about issues unless they're continually reminded about them. This scandal will not go away because the Catholic Church doesn't really want to do what is necessary. Period. Get rid of the pedophile priests.

Fewer and fewer men are entering the priesthood -- who would replace them? -- is probably what drives the Church's inability to punish the pedophiles. Also allowing married priests would probably be another solution, but that will never happen in my or my children's lifetimes. Happily, I left that hypocritical business/organization years ago and never looked back.

The Catholic Church above all is a business, and its "brand" has been sullied -- but good. I don't personally know any young people who were brought up in the RCC and still belong to it. But that's here in this country.

However, the RCC is gaining congregants in poor countries in Africa, South and Central America, and wherever ignorance, fear, and hopelessness thrive.

Catholic grade school nuns turned my mother into an atheist. They don't want people that can think for themselves.

Evil is the word for it.

I recently saw the film "Spotlight" about the Boston Globe's investigation that exposed hundreds of pedophile priests in Boston.

Chilling, but highly recommended.

Horrific would be an understatement. And well near the top of the hierarchy of horrors is the practice of exporting disgraced priests to lesser developed countries, where they presumably have even freer rein than before they were caught.

Yes, the spotlight needs to be kept on these crimes, and this video pulls no punches.

From what I've seen, the Catholic Church is actually shrinking rapidly in Latin America, just like here. It's partly competition from Protestantism and partly the growth of irreligion as the region becomes more developed and educated.

Yep, that's the nature of salvation-by-(ones own)works religion.

Then, there's the one true way of (actually) living. Hint: Jesus Christ - the real One, who gave us the real Bible (KJB).

Yeah, yeah, the no-true-Scotsman thing.

There is no "one true way of living". The "real" Bible would be the original manuscripts, in the original Hebrew and Greek. And the KJB was given to us by a (homosexual) king quite a long time after Jesus died, if he ever existed at all.
