I saw an article about the nazis first trying to take over in 1913(?). Years before they actually did.
The Nazi party didn't yet exist in 1913 -- you're probably thinking of the 1923 coup attempt, ten years before Hitler actually won power in an election.
The Republicans will keep on trying to steal elections, certainly. Our democratic institutions are a lot more robust than those of the Weimar republic, though.

Many good posts here and by good I mean posts that illuminate the dark sides of American society. We're doomed if smart people also decide to put their heads in the sand and ignore our problems. On the upside, I loved the dog that positioned the chair almost as much as that wonderful series of Obama shots. The man was clearly a superior being in so many ways.
RO: Glad to provide a few chuckles.
Debra: And none of the people in that snowball fight -- all long dead now, of course -- could have imagined at the time that people in 2020 would be watching that film of them on a global network of machines they wouldn't even have had a word for back then.
Mary K: I do try to bring people a few laughs. I think we all need it.
Shaw: Thanks!
Sixpence: Trump has brought people like that out into the open, like an infection rising to the surface. And thanks for the post!
CAS: Unfortunately, including so many news items means that there's a lot of negativity. Still, many of us are not ignoring the problems, so there's hope that they will be solved.
Always remember that Obama won the popular vote of Americans twice. Trump never did.
thanks so much for the shout out..merry merry..ydg
All the funny stuff, of course, is always enjoyable. But that snowball fight...WOW! Amazing. And the photos of Obama *sigh*. What a difference between then and now. My daughter's boyfriend asked for Obama's latest book for Christmas. I was so happy to hear that!
