About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

Must be ranked as one of the very best political ads ever. So touching and so effective. It serves another purpose as well--humanizing Muslims for those who view them as "others." The Khans are just a family like any other who have responded to the death of their beloved son just like any other family, no matter what religion they happen to follow.
Humanizing Muslims is an important point. This occurred to me at the time of Khan's speech at the convention (last paragraph) -- demonizing a group becomes that much harder when people are shown an individual of the group whom they can like and respect.
