About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

I've said that Trump's resemblance to Mussolini is uncanny, and that all Trump lacks is his own balcony from which he can continue to tell his fans how great his is and what terrific things he'll do when he's president. Will he get the airlines to run on time and not lose our luggage? That would be terrific.
Very appropriate. I hope Trump doesn't end up as the heir of Mussolini.
Whatever you think of Mussolini, he was a highly involved leader with an impressive command of the facts and his government's policies. Trump is an ignorant boor who was born rich and thinks he is entitled to any damned thing he wants.
Shaw: The resemblance has long struck me, not so much in the man himself as in the nature of his followers' attachment to him.
The airlines will still lose our luggage, but don't worry, Trump will "replace it with something terrific!"
Ahab: Our political institutions are much more robust than those of Italy in the 1920s, and as Green Eagle points out, Trump is a lot less capable than Mussolini. What his popularity says about a segment of our population is worrisome, though.
Green: Good point. If Trump is the reincarnation of Mussolini, he must have been dropped on his head at (re)birth.
