About Me
- Name: Infidel753
- Location: Portland, Oregon, United States
Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

The video here was a "fan made" video, which I thought was done really well. A guitarist Buddy (Dave) is all tripped out about how I like Lady GaGa (he thought I was pulling his leg), but there was alot that he didnt even know about her as well, he tripped out when I said I would like to hook her up with JG Thirlwell (Foetus) on future composition's and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) for prodution's ... he couldnt see any commonality and such (it's all rooted in basic composition's actually, but you have to take away the equipment and look at the sheet music) I even told him that she was covering shit like Zeppelin in nightclub gig's, he never even knew that and thought I was pulling his leg. One thing for sure man, she will never be "low- brow" as they alwayz looked at her as, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh : ) But it's true, so I understand her when she talk's of the criticism she got playing pop in the underground of New York (I actually got to indulge in the NY hardcore scene), musician's can get critical like that and very picky, etc. Dave played speed metal and was a bass payer for REO Speed Dealer as well year's back.
RC: Yes, it's much more impressive than many "official" videos -- I wonder what LG thinks of it.
I've never understood why it's fashionable in some circles to put down Lady Gaga -- just snobbery, seems like. Her music's always catchy and her heart is in the right place.
I know as well about her philosophically and politically, which to me is a plus. I would assume that she would be even impressed with the fan made video, from an artist's perspective. I know ... this low brow shit is really just that as far as the snob thing, has been for year's, I remember wanting to cover song's (vox- singing) with crew's like Foreigner's "Long Way From Home/ Inside Looking Outside"(?) (wierd, I know all the music for it, but dont recall the exact title : ) and "Women" ... which were top pop rock type piece's, but NOOOOO ... that was too "commercial", etc. A drummer I worked with (Todd early 80's) was influenced by complex composition's such as Yngwie Malmsteen and the percussionist Neil Pert of Rush, etc ... even would even criticize icon Sammy Hagar (Sammy Hagar Band and Van Halen) for getting too "pop" in composition's, using the colour red to promote image, and looking at his fret board while playing guitar, I said "Awwhhh Todd, c'mon man". When a friend Mark Griffin aka "MC900 FT Jesus" left his metal rock band and created MC900, which was as you know an industrial style hip hop genre ... he got locally criticized by many fellow rock musician's for going commercial, BUT ... that style he created was so unique, it won him a 5 year contract on Vancouver's Nettwork label and MTV's "Alternative Nation" tele. For the record ... believe it or not, Al Jourgensen/ Ministry actually got their first release/ LP doing a disco type dance sound (I'm not joking either) Al's ashamed of it to this day ... the album was called "Twitch" by Ministry, it has to be the mosted hated Ministry album by any Ministry fan. But yeah, the industry can get rather snobbish.
Gaga vogues. Just myself but getting a little tired of the techno music from her.
