Another one bites the dust!

Oops. Another extreme-right Christian anti-gay bigot has been caught stumbling out of the closet with his pants down. Minister and "psychologist" George Rekers is the man of the hour, and while I don't have the time or energy right now to write a definitive blog post about him, Green Eagle has already done it. Settle in for a satisfying gloat over hypocrisy exposed.

I hadnt even heard of this one before here Mr.Infidel. I reckon I can be a tad slow on some subject's, and this is one of those. What I mean is, it seem's so confusing, how so many of these who speak out against certain moralities, secretly live them. For instance .... say I was a closet queen preacher of the mainstream church .... why would I attack those that were sinner's or immoral so much, if I secretly was like them? Wouldnt it make more sense to avoid trying to present yourself as so "righteous"? And not focus so much on attacking those, and more on preaching the gospel or some other subject, it isnt like you have to hammer morality issues to be a good preacher. I also look at folk's like "$5.00 Freddie"(Phelps)( I named him $5.00 after those tired looking Salvation Army double knit suit's he wear's) and wonder why he would focus so much on homosexuality? I wonder if he may have had some negative childhood experience that make's him have so much hatred for homo's? Alot of the shit just dont make much sense to me, it just seem's rather odd I reckon.

No doubt though he had good taste, considering the young good looking man he chose! :)

Later Guy .........

these people are ODD!! I guess they think it's a good cover to be a bigot while also partaking in the desires of their gay hearts.

Notice how it's usually older people who get caught in these situations (Rekers is 61). They grew up at a time when it was almost impossible to be open about being gay, even to oneself. When you've lived a false life long enough, it becomes second nature.

As time passes I think we'll see fewer and fewer such cases because fewer young people feel they have to hide -- but no doubt there are still plenty of twisted closet cases "in the pipeline".

Thanks very much for the mention.

I just want to say that, although it is fun to play these things for the laughs they deserve, there is a serious purpose in publicizing these endless incidents- At some point, if our nation is to be saved, the people who follow jerks like this have to realize that their leaders do not give a damn for all of their religion and patriotism and are just using them.

Of course, I don't care how gay this guy is. This is just one more example of morality being used as nothing but a club to beat the suckers.

@Infidel753, "They grew up at a time when it was almost impossible to be open about being gay, even to oneself." Yep. Hit that one right on the head.

When you are so far in denial that you, as a public figure, see no problem whatsoever with retaining the services of a boy toy from a website called "rentboys.com", that is a level of delusional that even crazy people think is crazy.

Seriously, rentboys.com?

Rentboys!

The Google searches he must have done to find that place. The phrases he must have tried before he found just the right place to score a hot, **young** gigolo. The cognitive dissonance is deafening.

And hilarious, in a sadly ironic way. But mostly in a hilarious way.

TNLib: Another sinner crashes an burns.

They're starting to remind me of a meteor shower.

GE: I'm exactly the same way. I have no objection to eccentric sexual behavior (obviously excepting child molesting and rape à la the Catholic clergy) -- it's the preachy moralizing and bigotry I can't stand, which is what makes it so satisfying when it's exposed as hypocrisy.

GL: There's a weird kind of doublethink at work there that I hardly understand myself. I think some of the closeted gay gay-haters think that everyone has, and "struggles with" homosexual urges, so they're no different than anyone else. Or they think God will forgive their "transgressions" if they compensate by publicly crusading against homosexuality. Or they think doing so will at least divert suspicion from themselves -- although with all the scandals these days it probably does the opposite. Most people who really aren't gay just don't have much interest in the subject. Anyone who's obsessed with it -- especially if he's obsessed with condemning it -- just makes you wonder.

PS -- GL -- I agree that when all the psychology and social comment is said and done, in the end it's hilarious!
