I've posted before about the growing controversy surrounding next month's National Tea Party Convention, as suspicions of profiteering and exploitation deepen.
Now it looks like the whole event may be falling apart, with major speakers pulling out.
Teabaggerdom will never be an ally of the left, but a bit of healthy skepticism toward the right as well wouldn't go amiss.

So .... these teabag folk's actually have a party your saying? It's called the National Tea Party? I dont recall even seeing anything like that in the voter's booth last time I voted last year. I just dont know much about them, and never really read up on them or thought they had anything significant going beside's gathering in public place's and raising Hell or whatever.
The whole teabagger phenomenon got started after Obama took office. Since then a number of groups have announced political parties using the label, most notably in Florida. As far as I know, none of them have any real organization. This "convention" was billed as an effort to really get such a party off the ground, though it looks now like it's largely a money-making scheme.
Personally I think an actual Tea Party party would be a good idea. It would draw votes away from the Republicans and possibly flip a few close races our way.
You might have covered this in an earlier post. A few days ago I read an article by MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough about how the Tea Party movement is disintegrating from within. Joe had some interesting quotes from Glenn Beck attacking Scott Brown. BJ
I've seen a little bit about infighting. I'll have to look into it more.
They strike me as vulnerable to fragmentation for the same reason that religious-fanatic movements are -- too full of naïve people who are likely to split over fine points of ideology and who exactly the enemy is.
The Republicans are looking to subsume them into their amorphous blob like body. You Betcha they are!
Even the teabaggers are able to see, eventually, when they're being scammed and exploited. Let's hope they at least give the blob a severe case of indigestion.
