A lesson from Berlin
It is fantastically ironic that so many politically-active gay people in the West have chosen the path of hostility to Israel and support for the jihadist "Palestinian" movement, when Islam is implacably hostile to them, while in most of Israel it is possible to be openly gay and lead a reasonably normal life, like in the West. There has been a growing pattern of violent Muslim attacks on gay people in Europe, where the indigenous population has mostly overcome its homophobia as Christianity has faded away.
The Koran mandates the death penalty for homosexuality. (So does the Bible, but this is mostly ignored in the watered-down Christianity of today's West -- even among the fundamentalists, actually executing gays is a lunatic-fringe position.) Several Islamic regimes still have, and actively apply, the death penalty for homosexuality -- among them the Hamas regime in Gaza. Those "queers for Palestine" waving the Palestinian flag are displaying the banner of an ideology which would literally kill them immediately if it ever got into a position of authority over them. At least one Islamic cleric has declared that the sufferings of the Palestinians are God's punishment upon them for the mere fact of being supported by Western gays.
Gays actually resemble Jews in being targeted for mandatory persecution according to the tenets of Islam. In fact, it's worse. Islam historically tolerates the existence of Jews as long as they are powerless, groveling, and "know their place". There is no circumstance under which Islamic religious law would allow an actively gay man to remain alive. The fact that some majority-Muslim countries do not put gay men to death just reflects the fact that their legal systems are somewhat secularized -- largely due to Western influence -- and thus deviate from the dictates of true Islam.
Like many people in the West, I do not hold with what these "gay pride" events have recently evolved into. We support equal rights for gay people -- no discrimination in housing or employment, an equal right to marry, and suchlike. We did not sign up for public nudity and displays of sexual fetishism and all of this general grossness. But nobody who takes that position is advocating violence or backing away from supporting equal rights. We just want these events to be subject to the same laws and rules of public decency that apply to everyone else. The Islamist stance is the polar opposite. We got a little taste of it yesterday in Berlin.

This has always been such an odd alliance. In a way I see it as a reverse sort of racism. "Those people are not as sophisticated or as capable as we are, so we much embrace them." I show up at our town's pride events, but there is nothing like what you describe.
There is certainly an element of that. The naïve elements on the left tolerate or hand-wave away expressions of hatred and bigotry from Muslims that would outrage them if Westerners were displaying the exact same attitudes.
I think the worst excesses of "pride" events manifest themselves mainly in the large cities, not in smaller towns. Those excesses have definitely become an issue for a lot of people, though.
Agree 100%. Before I left Bluesky, one of these lefty trans idiots said they were fine with Muslims wanting to kill them and they still supported Gaza/Hamas “on principle.” What principle would that be?!
I'm with you on this. Equal rights for all but no public display of fetishism.
I agree with you about the gratuitous public nudity and fetishism at Pride events. What exactly has that got to do with accepting homosexuality? As for the deliberate exclusion of lesbians....
Paula: Anyone who claims to take a position like "I'm OK with them killing me on principle", or they still support something they know is evil, is living in a delusion where reality doesn't exist any more and what they say is just strings of words in the abstract that no longer refer to anything real.
Tomichan: I've never seen why we should put up with that. It's not tolerated in public in any other context.
Nick: If anything, it's undermining and potentially reversing the acceptance that gay people already have. The trouble is that it's just a small minority of gay people who do such things, but they're so visible that the mainstream society takes them as more representative than they really are, and they're going to end up ruining things for everybody else.
Such a sad thing to happen. No matter who people are, nobody deserves to be attacked just for gathering together. I hope the injured recover soon.
Indeed, so do I. It's tragic that such irrational hatred leads to a desire to kill people for being different.

Please be on-topic and read the comments policy. Spam, trolls, and fight-pickers will be deleted. If you don't have a Blogspot account and aren't sure how to comment, please see here. Fair warning -- I reject all comments containing any of the following:
1. Support for transgenderism
2. Negativity about Brexit
3. Support for a military draft or compulsory national service
I am not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent. And obviously I'm going to delete anything which is just quoting what an "AI" said. I want to hear from you, not from the always-wrong hallucination machine.
No comments advocating violence against any specific identifiable individual, even jokingly.
Please be considerate -- no political or politics-tinged comments on non-political posts, and no performative cynicism. Finally, please remember that this is a personal blog whose main purpose is to encourage contact from people with similar interests and world-views to mine. I really don't much care for arguing and debating; if arguing and debating is what you want, there are plenty of other places on the internet which welcome that.
