A consistent philosophy

I fervently support freedom of individual choice on both abortion and gun ownership.

I fervently oppose militant religious fanatics trying to impose their primitive taboos and medieval world-view on modern society -- both the Christian ones in the US and the Muslim ones in Europe.

I give credit to any political figure who does good and condemn any who does wrong, no matter which party they belong to, and regardless of whether they have previously done the opposite on other issues.

I fervently oppose the efforts of politicians to destroy voting rights and democracy by gerrymandering, whether Republicans in red states or Democrats in blue states.

I endorse the absolute right of free expression of opinion, for everyone -- including liberals, conservatives, libertarians, communists, Nazis, atheists, religious fundamentalists, both supporters and opponents of trans ideology, and everyone else.  Laws against blasphemy, against "hate speech", or against any other expression of opinion can never be legitimate, anywhere where humans exist, and must be resisted and overthrown by any means necessary.  The proper response to evil speech is to speak out oneself and refute it, not to silence the speaker.

I reject race-consciousness, whether it takes the form of left-wing identity politics or right-wing white supremacism.  Either way, the de facto effect is to divide the American people against themselves and distract them from the necessity of unified class struggle against the billionaire parasite class.

I stand with mainstream voters and civil society against the political activist fringes incessantly screaming "fascist" and "Marxist" at each other over our heads.  We must find a way to push the fringe elements aside, along with the polarization and hysteria that they incite, and rebuild a sense of unified American-ness that can accommodate even large differences of opinion and philosophy.

I endorse the absolute right of the front-line democracies Israel and Ukraine to resist the genocidal aggression of jihadism and Russian imperialism, and to smash the homelands of the aggressors into ruin without mercy, by any means they themselves judge appropriate -- as we ourselves did against Germany and Japan during World War II.

I have no interest in adhering to any political party line which I judge to be logically inconsistent and morally incoherent.

Finally, as for those who fantasize about violence and seize any excuse to foment it:

Is there some way we can put all these people on an island somewhere so they wipe each other out and leave the rest of us in peace?

I knew the right wing were anti-Democrat but I had no idea their extreme hatred of Democrats went so far as to advocate killing them, shutting down Democrat organisations, accusing Democrats of murdering their opponents, and classifying the Democratic Party as a terror organisation. Insanity is taking over.

That's a pretty fine manifesto that I can pretty well agree with. I would like to, somehow, deal with hate speech, but it is difficult to know how, so I can't argue with that part. The Palestine issue is difficult. I do uphold Israel's basic right to defend itself, but ... but what, I am again not sure. It's hard.

Nick: For years now they've had a pattern of fantasies about violence, which erupt under certain conditions. I analyzed it here.

Anvilcloud: Thanks. One big problem with making exceptions to absolute freedom of speech is that those exceptions immediately get expanded to cover anything somebody wants to ban. For example, the minute there's an agreement that "hate speech" should be restricted in some way, the ideologists immediately re-define everything they don't like as being "hate speech". The minute it's agreed that Nazis are an exception and should be banned, they start calling everybody who disagrees with them a Nazi. Free expression has to be absolute for everyone, no exceptions. It's the only way.

I cannot imagine any other country that, being subjected to a provocation like the October 7 attack, would show the restraint Israel has shown in Gaza. What they have done in response is nothing compared to what they would be justified in doing, after that.

We have much more in common than a person might think. A well thought out and well written piece.
Thank you for sharing.

Infidel, I greatly respect and agree with about 90% of your philosophy. You are sadly a rarity these days, sir. I applaud you.
