In 1948 almost all these people were driven out of the countries where their ancestors had lived for centuries, and fled to Israel.  Today half of Israel's Jewish population is descended from persecuted refugees from Arab countries.

The economy kept going for a while on the momentum left over from the Biden years, but now Trump's blundering has caught up with it.

Good collection this morning; some damn right funny!

Glad to be retired and no longer running on the corporate rat wheel. I feel sorry for anyone still needing to work. Even sorrier for those WANTING to work. I have a lot of colleagues my age (60's) that hit retirement but "just cannot stop working!" Then need that corporate culture to feel... something. Alive? Connected?

Idunno? I retired. I have never been so frickin' busy in my life! I just don't miss the asinine relationships I was forced to have as part of an "office" culture.

I’ll just comment on shopping carts. In addition to people leaving them willy nilly, it grinds my gears when they just abandon them near the coral. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to stack the, so that there is room for the next cart.

The second one is excellent.
And I loved the one about a book is the only purchased that makes you richer. What a lovely line.

Rade: Also very glad to finally be retired for good. If I ever got into a financial situation where I needed to go back to a job, I'd probably just shoot myself.

Anvil: It does reveal the utter lack of consideration some people have.

Ricko: Please snag freely.....

Liam: That second one is a good reminder for the ideological fanatics among us. But I doubt they'll pay attention to it.

I've never regretted money spent on a book.

No disagreements, but some additions.

What we did to Nazi Germany AND Imperialist Japan.

The chalk (plus water) was added to milk to increase volume. To cover the smell of spoiled milk, they added formaldehyde!

Mary: Thanks!

Miss C: Yes, Japan too. I'll probably have a post about that on Wednesday.

Nightmarish what used to happen with food before proper controls were put in place. We must never go back to that.
