I'm surprised Bruce didn't at least have a link to George Carlon's bit about God needing money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ8hefESt7c

That's already pretty well-known -- and Bruce had his own things to say.

May I correct one claim?

Kuinini Manumua - whom your links say was eliminated from the Olympics by "transgender ideology" - actually will be competing in the Olympics .

Straw placement, LOL! "Poison him. Come home." HAHAHAHAHAHA! Love the Pride House display! I support replacing Confederacy statues with Pikachus too!

Charlotte: Duly updated in the post.

Ricko: Thanks! I never actually look for things to include -- I just happen to run across a lot of stuff of interest.

Debra: Very likely Melania dreams of that. I'm glad the house display got so much neighborhood support. And the statue replacement would definitely be an upgrade!

Whew! I had a super-busy day and can only get back to your blog now to make a couple of more detailed comments on a couple of posts.

The tweeter who mocked transgender people by saying he was born in the wrong body and is actually a Korean ("lmaoooo") reminded me of the same ignorant arguments homophobes used to make about same-sex marriage ("Does this mean I can marry my DOG now, haha?")

A legal process exists for anyone to "transition" to a new national identity despite "not having been born" that particular nationality -- simply by meeting immigration requirements, moving to that country and legally becoming a citizen. There is no need to pretend that this experience somehow makes transgender issues ridiculous. If anything, it bolsters the argument that such transitioning and legal identity changes would (and should) be as simple to provide.

The other article which disturbed me was the women's cancer support group one. The administrators of that support group totally botched how to handle that situation. Instead of banning or censoring the lesbians, the administrators would have been well advised to instead employ the "trigger warning" method used by AO3 (Archive of Our Own) to handle fanfic disputes. Anyone can write what they want on AO3 but trigger warnings about content must precede the fic so that readers who would be triggered by the subject matter can choose whether to read it or not to read it. This method respects both parties while allowing a more vulnerable reader to never have to be ambushed by triggering content.

In a support group setting, before a woman speaks, she should briefly say what kinds of things she'll be talking about (in this case, ovarian/uterine/breast cancer or in other cases, trauma like spousal abuse, rape, what have you). In other words, give a brief "trigger warning." Then any woman who might be triggered by such discussions would have the choice whether to listen or to step out of the room while that person is speaking so as not to be triggered by the content. Then she would return when the speaker was done. This method would protect and respect both women and enable all to remain members of the support group. Both groups of women have the right to be there and to have their issues treated with respect and compassion.

Debra: No analogy is perfect. However, the fake Korean case was revealing in that the guy was insisting that he should be accepted as a Korean simply on his own say-so, as many "trans" people insist that they should be considered members of the opposite sex simply by claiming to be such. In any case a nationality is a legal status, not an objective biological reality, and as such can be changed by going through whatever legal process is established for the purpose; he was claiming to be trans-racial, a member of a different race than he objectively was ("born in the wrong body"), like Rachel Dolezal. Even the physical differences between races are trivial compared to the physical differences between sexes. There is a legal process whereby I could become a German citizen (a legal status), but there is no legal (or other) process by which I could become a giraffe (an objective biological reality), no matter how strenuously I claimed to be one. And as numerous other links I've provided over the last year or so illustrate, allowing men to claim to be women creates all kinds of objective problems and dangers which allowing people to change nationality doesn't and allowing people to claim to change race wouldn't.

As to the other case, it seems fairly ridiculous that a woman in a support group for women cancer survivors should have to provide "trigger warnings" before talking about the physical effects of a fairly common form of female-specific cancer. It's totally absurd that anyone should claim to not "feel safe" just because a woman referred to the universally-known fact that women have periods, which is what the male bully in this case was claiming. It's like going to a math class and then claiming to be "triggered" by people mentioning that 2+2=4. Nobody should need to provide "trigger warnings" or otherwise make special arrangements for some grandstanding bully who claimed to be upset about something so obvious and commonplace. This is all the more true in that it was a women's support group and he should not even have been there. He was asserting his male dominance over those women in a space where he wasn't even supposed to be, and rendering the whole group useless for its actual purpose. You can see from the description how traumatized the woman was by his attack. The fact that the administrators of the group "totally botched how to handle that situation" is inevitable given their craven kowtowing to this ridiculous ideology which insists on allowing mentally-ill men to do that kind of thing. They should have stood up for the woman who was being bullied in what was supposed to be a safe space for her, not supported the man who was bullying her.

Please remember that my normal policy is to reject all comments that could be construed as sympathetic to trans ideology. I'm not obligated to provide a platform for views I find morally abhorrent, and this is a blog, not a debating forum. I made an exception in this one case because you're a long-established reader and someone I consider I have a good (internet) relationship with, but I won't make such exceptions going forward.

Love going through your links! The "Fight cancer with the shrooms" made me cringe. All people have to do these days is add "A new study has shown..." to anything they post and VOILA, it's truth.

Lady M: Thanks. That's an impressive sample size! I'll definitely use that for the next round-up.

Martha: Thanks! With studies, what counts is whether it's done in such a way as to be scientifically valid and really shows the results it purports to show. That's the only way we can actually know anything about issues like nutrition and what works or doesn't work for disease prevention.
