Video of the day -- the Empire, what is it good for?
From the film The Life of Brian -- first-century rebels in Judea bemoan Roman rule. This put me in mind of modern teabaggers complaining about taxes and federal overreach, but seeing the light little by little. Found via You Might Notice a Trend, which has a different point to make.

I admit my take was on how the BernieBro "Let's Blow Up The Democratic Party to Save It" faction needed a reminder of how they've got it so good under an Obama administration, and how the party they're railing against as corrupt is really the party they ought to support.
Anyway. It's always a good thing to quote from the classics.
@Paul Wartenberg: Agreed, Paul. But to be fair, the best thing about this clip is that it can apply to both.
And as you said, it's always a good thing to quote from the classics.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to hum a few notes from "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life"....
I am a classical liberal/minarchist. I have never read Ayn Rand (not least because that speech goes on FOREVER).
Paul & Marc: A true classic is applicable in many situations.
Nick: I don't believe many people read that interminable garbage all the way through any more than they read the whole Bible (even I skipped parts of the most intolerable speeches). But some familiarity with wingnut literature is worthwhile as an insight into their thinking.
