ReplyDeleteThe objection is to people who use "radical" to mean "extremist". If they mean "extremist", they should just say it.
When it comes to Islamist terrorists I prefer radical extremists or radicalized extremists.
ReplyDeleteHitchens, given his far-left background, was using the word 'radical" in a rather specific way. Unfortunately these distinctions of meaning are becoming lost now as the meanings of words become generalized.
